I’m in love with the cover of this book and the title. The cover because … do I even have to explain why? Lol The title because it makes me super happy when the title of a book describes a book impeccably. Everything about this story was explosive and I loved every minute of reading it! I’ve only read one other book by this author in the past, but she’s been on my radar since I discovered another author she has co-written some books with that are on my TBR. And now I have the entire Chicago Defiance MC series downloaded and ready for me! :)Alright, back to the actual book! I’ll start by saying that there’s quite a bit of real life circumstances happening in this book and almost all of them have zero rainbows. Do with that what you will … I will also say that I give the author mad props for respectfully representing said life circumstances and making sure they were written accurately. Again, not a lot of rainbows and gumdrops. You’ve been warned!As every first book in any MC series does, Explosive will introduce you to a wide range of secondary characters along with MC itself while building the relationship of the leads. The author did an exceptional job of incorporating all of these elements and not making the story tedious. As I mentioned earlier, it was quite the opposite! I’m really proud of how this story of family and friendship, brotherhood and sisterhood, trust, power, control, betrayal, deceit and finally vengeance unfolded. There’s no shortage of action and drama in these pages so pay attention because a lot will be thrown at you, but it will all be worth it! I cannot wait for Addictive!!

Explosive is just that! It starts right off in your face with action paced drama that grabs you and draws you into the story. Zero has to take over too early because of an attack that takes not only his father who was the President but his mother as well. He not only has to deal with the MC but what is left of his family as well. He and Rayne connect when he goes to bring his siblings home. Prinie tells him about her friend Rayne and when he goes to check on her, Zero is drawn to her and their path will begin. It is one that is filled with dangerous twists and turns. Will they be able to come out on the other side in one piece and will their path lead them finally two the happiness they both deserve?

The start of a series. Ends on a slight cliffhanger to tease the next story (not related to the HFN of Zero and Rayne. While this is darker themed, I really like that it is an ongoing series with an overarching theme and that there are multiple additions to the series available now through KU or for purchase. Yeah! Can’t wait to start the next one!

There are a few grammatical issues but they are minimal and primarily comprised of incorrect word choice, punctuation issues, missed words and an extra inserted word. I am mentioning these for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, because errors interrupt the flow.

The world building in the start of this series is strong. The characters are unique, strong and feisty. I love having the story told from both POV, because it just brings everything to life. The chemistry between Zero and Rayne is so good, just wished that someone could do to “Up Chuck” what he did to her times 10 …

In this story, Zero becomes the new President of the Defiance MC in Houston, Texas after his dad is killed by a rival MC during their latest war. Afterwards, his two siblings ran away to Chicago. When Zero gets things settled, the club takes a road trip to bring them home.

In the interim, Zero’s sister Prinie befriended Rayne, an abused woman she met when Rayne called for an Uber. Over the course of time they have grown close, so when Prinie agrees to come home she doesn’t want to leave without saying goodbye. When they arrive Rayne’s spouse has just left and she is in bad shape. Zero’s protective instincts kick in right away. He wants to bundle her up and take care of her, but he is the President of an outlaw MC and she is married … to a cop.

Oh, boy … buckle up buttercup, the ride could get really bumpy

Amongst all the chaos these two find something neither of them were expecting. What an explosive start! Such an impact and I enjoyed the way this story continues into a part of the Chicago Defiance MC stories, especially, Defiance, book 7, where the excitement and action is massive but more so, it fully explains why the Houston charter were there at that particular point in time, very cleverly done.

With the resolution of certain things for both charters some other issues crop up. Rayne is a newbie to the Houston Defiance MC and she has fitted in so well, too. Zero, the club president, thinks so too. 😆 Rayne is an amazing character, she should be a quivering mess after all of her trauma, I know I would be but she has such incredible strength and determination. Zero... what’s not to like? I mean he rocks the man bun so well, has a body filled with incredible artwork, is sexy and built like a Greek God! Okay, so he drove me a teeny bit mad a few times but hey, not everyone is perfect! 😄

With so much happening in this story it is shaping up to be another winning series. I honestly got lost in the adventure and totally recommend it to everyone.

Zero was the VP of THDMC, until his father was murdered. This pushed him into the role as President.. Zero thought he still had time to learn, but it seems fate has other plans for him. Rayne is a battered wife who thinks she has no way of escaping. A chance encounter with her UBER driver is all it takes for her to have faith. Prime, UBER driver, is the younger sister of Zero. When Zero comes to town to bring his family home, he saves the life of Rayne, by bringing her with his family. This was a slow burn type of read. There is a newness to the MC, loyalties are changed, and there is threat coming from two different areas. Zero is trying to make headway with his sister and brother by showing them stability, and strength.. Zero is also trying to figure out his attraction to Rayne. The MC brothers are solid where the club is concerned, but have their own individual struggles. This book was a good starting out book. As always, KE Osborn, rocks an MC!

The character development is really great and the storyline kept you flipping. Rayne and Zero have fabulous chemistry. Both have some major baggage and take time to figure themselves out but they are perfect for one another. Great MC read.

Found myself a brand new new-to-me MC romance author! I loved reading Explosive. It was gripping from start to finish! There's a perfect balance of MC elements and romance within the story.
A steady paced storytelling, and told from dual POVs. There’s a lot going on in Houston Defiance MC with drama, trouble and angst at every corner. It’s an action-packed storyline — one that sets up the introduction to this series in a strong way.
Besides the brotherhood between the members, I enjoyed seeing the friendships that developed between the women in this world. It’s also a nice contrast to an otherwise male-driven environment. I love that they are cared for, protected and respected by the MC but that these ladies can hold their own!
There’s a good amount of character development. You not only see the lead characters, but the secondary ones as well have backstory that gives you insight into who they are and how they’ve come to be now in the present. There’s a few secondary characters I’m already vying to see more of in this series.
Whilst this is a work of fiction and a romance story at that, I haven’t forgotten that Zero and Rayne’s story centers around a realistic, relatable and very serious topic. There’s some lighthearted banter here and there to break the intensity, but what makes an MC romance a winner for me besides the hero/ heroine, is the substance of the story. Zero and Rayne grow and evolve, and there’s a purpose to their actions.
I really can’t say enough great things about this book. It keeps you on your toes with suspense. I think fellow MC and dark romance readers will get a kick out of it. It’s one that’ll have you reeling about for days on end.
But please keep in mind that this story focuses on sensitive subject matter that may trigger some readers. It contains detailed violence, domestic abuse and contains mentions of drugs.

Overall, a spectacular MC romance that I would highly recommend! A great start to new series!
