Yes, it makes treading yarn easy but may be too large for it to fit though areas. Attached photo shows this issue. I can make it fit sometimes but have to stretch yarn and if you are working with less forgiving/stretchy yarn it may not work at all.

    Some of the lower quality plastic ones break, but these are sturdy. I don't end up buying more because they break. I end up buying more because I give them away or lose them. They're pointy enough to weave in ends no issue or sew pieces together, but not so much so as to inadvertantly split the yarn. They're also dull enough I can stick them in my bag and not have a needle point poking out when I'm walking down the street. I had a metal needle do that once, and I got some funny stared on the NYC subway. These stay fully in the bag. They're a constant in my knitting and crochetting bags.
