This book is so cute! It has an empowering story that anyone would enjoy, but it's really something special if your life has been touched by adoption. It's rare to see good adoption representation in media, including children's books, so when I saw this I bought it for my kids immediately. My son loved it, and I look forward to using it to help explain the story of my brother's adoption to him when he's a little older and can understand.

Goldilocks: The Third Bear is a creative reimagining of the classic Goldilocks story. Instead of being an intruder as in the original story, Goldilocks is now the adoptive daughter of Mama and Papa Bear in the bear community.

The story beautifully portrays Goldi's feelings of not fitting in and looking different from everyone around her. Goldi so much wants to be like the bears that she goes to extreme lengths to try to be like them. But in the end she can only be herself which saddens Goldi. But Mama and Papa Bear assure her that they chose for her to join their family just as she is and love her.

The story is beautiful and heartfelt. The illustrations are adorable and draw the reader in. Overall, this is a great story, especially for an adoptive child who is going through similar feelings.

The reason I rated this 4 stars was due to some formating and rhyming issues and a few typos. The font choice was not keeping with the spirit of the story and was so small as to be difficult to read at times (I was reading the kindle e-book for transparency). The meter was a little off on a few lines that made them rough to read on the first go round and there were far too many imperfect rhymes for my taste. I hope the author corrects these issues in the next book because he really does have talent and could create something spectacular.

All in all, these small rookie errors shouldn't keep you from this darling book. I recommend you add it to your reading list.

It is an amazing book! It teaches about being yourself and loving yourself. I love how it talks about adoption, but also juet confidence and being loved/loving yourself.

We have this book, a family member bought it for us and we love it so much. Our eldest son came to us through the blessing that is adoption and this book does an amazing job of explaining adoption in a loving and fun way.

If you have anyone adopted in your family or know someone who does, get this book for them. Everyone is truly family whether by birth or adoption.... and even those who aren't formally adopted.
