I really appreciate the way Sarajane weaves joy and compassion into her exposition of the enneagram.

A few highlights for me:
* In just a few paragraphs, her explanation of subtypes and lines helped me understand the nuance of these concepts in a way that pages of text from other sources had only made more cloudy.
* The enneagram bingo was fun and actually quite helpful to help me understand the different perspective and motivations of the various types, including mine.
* The H.O.N.E.S.T. framework is a simple and memorable way to grow self-efficacy with self-compassion. It gave me some ideas that I can put into action immediately and provided more than a few insights to mull over.

I imagine I’ll return to this book from time to time as I continue my life’s journey and as I continue to understand how to use the enneagram to enrich my life and understand others with greater empathy.

I recommend The Honest Enneagram to anyone who is curious about the enneagram, whether you’re just dipping a toe in the water or you’ve taken the plunge.

I loved it and will refer to it again and again and again not for myself and for those in my life as a way of being able to understand myself with them better. Compassionate while allowing space for self discovery and self-love and still offering a unique process to support yourself through this self discovery. I really enjoyed this book. It's important to know some about the enneagram and what your type is before diving into this one. I liked the introduction and hearing about the author's motivation and point of view. I also thought her H.O.N.E.S.T system was interesting and I can see myself referring back to it and the chapter about my type quite often. In the chapter on my type, the author did an excellent job providing concrete examples and she gave solid advice. Her writing truly shows her compassion and enthusiasm for the topic and you can tell she put a lot of thought into the book. My two complaints is twofold: I didn't feel like the book gave enough details about the Enneagram system or what it is. I especially felt like more explanation could have been given about the 'wings'. I can see why the author might not want to have included that information so my second complaint is that I wish she would have given additional resources that readers could seek out. Overall though, excellent book! I will definitely be giving my type a lot of thought and really reflecting on a lot of what she had to say.

For anyone wanting to explore their Enneagram number a little further, this book is perfect. I absolutely loved Sarajane's approach -- especially with her H.O.N.E.S.T. break down and her support plan. A lot of Enneagram books dive into the type description, and then sort of leave you at that, letting you determine what happens next. But Sarajane explores everything that makes up the strengths of your type, what value you bring to the world and to your relationships, while also exploring some areas you might struggle with by offering a plan of actionable steps you can take to enrich your day-to-day. Not only did I learn more about myself as a 7, but I also learned about those I love and THEIR numbers, so I can better love and care for them, and hear them the way they desire to be heard the most. Above all, I think any time we slow down and take time to reflect on who we are, it's time well spent.

Take the test and then pick this book up. You won't be sorry!

This book is wonderful because Case really captures the ESSENTIALS and she does it in a way that is gentle and uplifting. Enneagram can easily become very negative. Case doesn't shy away from the dark sides, but she ensures we also see the light and how to work with the dark in a healthy way. She makes it all so easy to understand. And she does an amazing job illustrating the subtypes and wings - which are SO CRUCIAL to accurately typing yourself. Highly recommend.

The author who is a type seven is gifted in clearly and lucidly pointing out how each of us can not just recognize our blinds spots but how to really thrive. I read this book AFTER reading Beatrice Chestnut, Suzanne Stabile, Cron, Riso etc. This book is not a true reflection of the enneagram, it’s a sugar coated version and is not entirely honest. The author quotes that she finds other books of the mentioned authors shaming, but they are not at all, definitely disappointed with this, it’s just not true. If you do pick this book up please continue with the enneagram studies to get a more accurate description

I was so excited for this book, waiting for months after preordering it. I was impressed by the beautiful coffee table style hard cover on arrival...and that is where it ended. The inside of the book has zero depth. It is as if you are reading someone's jot notes while they read through another (well written) enneagram book. If you have done any exploration into the enneagram, this one probably won't give you anything (and you will have to have done some exploration...because it goes right into types, not how to pick a type). Sadly sadly sadly disappointing. Considering returning it to be totally frank.... sad.
