A Year in God's Classroom: A Daily Devotional For Autism And Special-Needs Families Paperback – November 18, 2020

4.2 4.2 out of 5 stars 6 ratings

Parenting is no easy task, especially for those who are raising children with autism and special needs. Parenting calls for wisdom, strength, and a generous portion of hope. No matter how much we love our children and try to do what's best, we need God's help.
God's Classroom is about learning from the One who has experience and authority. Jesus is the one person who can teach us about unconditional love, grace, mercy, and perseverance. He understands our joys and struggles for He endured it all. God's Classroom is not just theory. It is practical and personal because the One who teaches it has first-hand experience.
A Year in God's Classroom offers readers a daily reminder of God's mercies and the hope we have in Christ. If anyone can teach us about life it's Jesus.

From the Author

Raising a son on the autism spectrum has its joys and challenges. When our son was young, I searched for a devotional that would speak to our particular journey. I could not find a single one. I began to write down some of the lessons God and my son taught me about patience, kindness, perseverance, hope, and unconditional love. Thus was born A Year in God's Classroom.
As an educator through Stars for Autism, I have discovered each individual with special needs is unique. But the one thing we have in common is perseverance and hope. We will never give up on our children because they are precious to us and their heavenly Father. Moms, dads, grandparents, and educators, I pray this devotional will encourage you in your daily walk. I pray God will reveal himself to you and fill you with His wisdom, His strength, and His peace. He has plans to prosper and not to harm, plans to give you hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11).

As a homeschool mom of a child with autism and other special needs, A Year in God's Classroom has been a blessing. Having a few moments to myself to read a devotional starts my day off in a positive way. I'm on my second read through. The nice thing is you can miss a day and just skip ahead to the current day. So you are never behind! No guilt, just blessings. Highly recommend.

If you are searching for a daily devotional for the family of a special needs child, this book is all you could hope for, and more. Although it targets parents who have a child with autism, it is helpful to any family challenged by special needs. This well organized book reaches out to the reader by relating the daily scripture to a parent's daily life, as she generously shares glimpses of her personal experiences. This book belongs on the bedside table for all parents searching for a path through troubled waters.
