The Future of Us: For the Ones Who Come Next Kindle Edition
When we become mothers, we are altered forever. When we speak into the life of a child, we never know how deep our words will cut. How much they can heal. Will the things we say be part of their inner dialogue for the rest of their life? It could be.
So, writing to our children—the next generation to inhabit this beautiful disaster of a world that we live in—almost seems overwhelming. What could we possibly say?
We can tell them they are brave. We can try to help them learn from our mistakes. We can encourage and guide and warn them. We can educate and influence them.
We can try to make their world better.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2023The Future of Us is a collection of essays and poems about the ups, downs, and joys of being a mom. All are from the heart. I have a few favorites.
Guiding My Sons Through the Cycle of Life and Death touched me with it’s honesty and clarity. The author, Sara Neufeld experienced three deaths in a short period of time. Her challenge of explaining this to her sons is insightful, as she relates the real questions her children asked. These were often very funny. She mixed pathos with joy and it was effective.
I also enjoyed the poem, A Broken Cycle, by BC Winters, and Permission not to be Perfect, by Marian Sierzant.
This book is a great read for mothers and even grandmothers.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 9, 2023So many great pieces in this anthology. Beautifully covers motherhood, the good and the bad, no matter your journey. Teared up a few times. Thinking about purchasing more as gifts for Mother’s Day.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 4, 2023I love the concept of this book collaboration and am excited to keep reading. Last night I read the excerpt “Guiding My Sons Through the Cycle of Life and Death” by Sara Pam Neufeld. It was beautifully written, insightful, and even funny! She masterfully covered a difficult topic – at any age – and I left feeling like I gained some tips and a big hug from the author. We can do this, moms – with bravery, humility and imperfection – yes we can.
