Amazon Best Seller in BusinessAmazon #1 New Release in Business It's eight o'clock Monday morning...

What do you do to outpace the market and grow faster than your competitors?

Aligning the Dots provides a clear answer to that deceptively simple question.

Although many how-to-grow business books have been published, none offer a pragmatic and reliable blueprint for top-line growth that is built on deep data analysis and a universal framework that leads to revealing insights. Without a clear roadmap to growth, a CEO's demands for innovative product development, better marketing, and increased customer acquisition and conversion often fail to produce desired outcomes. An effective leader understands that without clear direction and guidance, teams will revert to business as usual and no amount of inspirational taglines will help the business grow faster.

Aligning the Dots introduces a new paradigm. It's a universal, data-driven and prescriptive methodology, called A4 Precision Alignment™, designed to accelerate any business. Based on the profound insight that the maximum top-line growth rate can only be achieved when a business and its target market are perfectly aligned, this methodology reveals how quantitative measurements of alignment form the base for the development of a Growth Playbook. That blueprint will guide any business to align the dots to outperform its target market and fly past its competitors.

From the Author

In my 30 years of starting, running and investing in Silicon Valley businesses, one of the most painful and meaningful lessons I learned is that when a business is not growing relative to its market, it's on a declining path. Losing market share is never good, especially when it's to the point where the business becomes immaterial and slips to a slow death. In some ways, irrelevancy can be worse than death, dragging on for a long time. It's a little like playing Monopoly when the board is filled with houses and hotels, but none of them are yours. You know there is no way you will win, and your friends are getting richer and richer by the minute. It's the slow spiral down to irrelevancy, and eventually, game over.

For entrepreneurs, founders or CEOs who have sold shares to raise money, growing their business faster than the market in which it operates is the key to sustainable shareholder value creation. You would think that CEOs, business owners, executive management, investors, advisors and board members would have access to a pragmatic, data-driven and action-able playbook with a roadmap to outperforming their target market.

Surprisingly, in more cases than not, that blueprint does not exist.

There are volumes of literature about listening, managing and supporting your customers, marketing techniques, the art of hiring and retaining talented individuals, building a strong and lasting culture, having the right product/market fit, training and developing effective compensation plans for your salesforce, managing your time and your team as a business leader, dealing with a difficult board of directors, and of course, embracing and driving innovation. While most of these concepts and ideas are sensible, there is no disciplined, data-driven and universal approach to top-line growth.

As a CEO, I often struggled with that deceptively simple question: "What should I do on Monday morning at eight o'clock to grow my business faster than our target market and faster than my competitors?"

The search for a clear answer led me to this body of work.
A4 Precision Alignment™ is a new paradigm--a rigorous, commonsense, data-driven and perspective approach to solving the revenue growth problem. This is not your traditional business book with concepts you have heard before. My goal is to empower you to look at the world from a fundamentally new perspective based on the profound notion of alignment. Dozens of examples, case studies and specific data models demonstrate how to realize the perfect alignment for your business and inform actions that can unleash extraordinary revenue growth potential.

I hope you enjoy the journey. If there is something, just a little some-thing, that makes you look at the challenge of growing your business differently, then I have accomplished my mission. You will have helped me achieve my humble definition of success and made every hour I spent thinking about the topic of growth and authoring this book worthwhile. And for that, you have my deepest gratitude.

Insightful and enlightening analysis from a curious, organized mind
I read Aligning the Dots on a flight from New York to Seattle yesterday, and I was disappointed when we landed - finished the the last few pages in the garage - this book stands out among its peers for three primary reasons : 1) the author looks at business in the context of their ecosystem, relationships, and customers, rather than isolating processes and people in place, 2) there are several themes and insights that inform the entire work, giving it integrity and weight, and 3) the book is peppered with supporting insights and case studies that clearly took a tremendous investment of time and influence to gather; the author spent countless hours wtih CEOs of fortune 500 companies, testing his theories and refining them against real-world examples.I am a technology M&A specialist with over 100 transactions behind me, so I work with what I get; we have limited time to coach our clients and drive change - but I have already recommended this book to three current clients and will continue to do so - it is that good."Alignment" as a term has been neutered by over-use. When someone uses it in a conference room, it whooshes by without making a mark. The author has taken it out of the scrap heap and made it real again. I highly recommend this book to anyone with a vested interest in building value in companies- investors, executives, advisors, and entrepreneurs.

California author Philippe Bouissou, PhD has intensive experience for addressing the topic of this new book from his years of starting, running and investing in Silicon Valley businesses. His observations of other entrepreneurs and CEOs, the spectrum of personnel involved in corporate decisions, as well as his personal history have resulted in his development of A4 Precision Alignment – that paradigm of his book’s title. As he states, ‘My goal is to empower you to look at the world from a fundamentally new perspective based on the profound notion of alignment. Dozens of examples, case studies and specific data models demonstrate how to realize the perfect alignment for your business and inform actions that can unleash extraordinary revenue growth potential.’

Philippe is a Pro in many ways, one of which is his ability to capture attention through brief but pungent phrases placed throughout his book, such as ‘How well is your business aligned for growth?: Getting your business aligned, internally and externally, is essential for growth,’ ‘Growth is at the core of our very existence,’ and the chapter titles such as ‘From seed to maturity: the five stages of business growth – Infancy, Early Childhood, Middle Childhood, Adolescence, Adulthood,’ ‘Growing is like drinking: it needs to be done responsibly,’ ‘the concept of alignment with examples drawn form adventure, science, technology, and business.’ And on and on, these striking moments proceed throughout this very readable book.

The key word of this informative and transformative tome is alignment, or as Philippe states, ‘If I had to summarize this book in one word and one word only, it would be alignment. Alignment is the key to maximizing revenue growth.’ What is offered is the technique to adapt and adopt the paradigm – a guide for both novices in the business world as well as plateaued, experienced persons. The comments about the impact of this book from an impressive array of business leaders certainly underline the importance of this fine book. Highly recommended. Grady Harp, February 20

Aligning the Dots ISBN: 9781734208719 Seward (?) Business Press copyright and written by Phillippe Bouissou, PhD.
Sub-titled, the new paradigm to grow any business, this book, like most in the genre, opens with “Additional praise” by prominent business leaders, list of trademarks, Photograph and Art Credits and the book’s Contents that contains a statement on “How to read this book” followed by a another “Why you should read this book”. Next listed, 9 chapters, most including detailed pertinent studies; 1. The Growth Imperative, one case study; 2. Alignment of Everything. 3. Introduction to the A4 Precision Alignment™ Paradigm, one study; 4. First Axis: Pain vs. Claim, three; 5. Second - Perception vs. Message, four; 6. Third – Purchase vs. Sale, three; 7. Fourth – Delight vs. Offering, two; 8. Building your Growth Playbook, four; 9. Internal alignment, two studies. A Summary, Index, Acknowledgements and About the Author conclude the book. The content begins simply with an explanation of “How to read this book” describing that it has been written “so that you can maximize the return on the time you invest in it. Skip around and read it in a non-linear fashion if that suits you. Or read it cover to cover.” Accompanying are suggestions for reading the material if you have 3 minutes, ten minutes, thirty or “more time or can’t fall asleep”. A more detailed explanation of “Why you should read this book” then provides an opening to the substantive material of the chapters as listed above.
Discussion: An interesting summary of “What we have learned” after one chapter/section’s presentation. “It’s the beginning of a quiet revolution I call The Reverse Movement, It is a profound change with lasting effects, where products and services and ease-of-transaction are delivered to the customer, not the opposite as it has been up until now.” Another highly interesting section is set forth in the fourth axis of alignment in the A4 Precision Alignment™ methodology which explains the concept presented by the somewhat perplexing title “Delight vs. Offering”; viz. “between the delight the customer is expecting after the acquisition of the product and the experience he or she receives using the product”. Further admonishment is provided to the effect that there is only one business regardless of whether it offers farm machinery, beauty products or anything in-between and that is the delivery of delight at a level the customer wants and expects. The author further reduces a company’s effectiveness to a simple formula: “Growth Contribution = Experienced Delight – Expected Delight.” Further provided are steps required in taking what he titles the “Delightfulness Journey”. From replies to a questionnaire, numbers are gained which provide further information. Importance of asking pertinent questions, gaining necessary date, aligning them properly, gaining critical insight from them and finally applying them properly are stressed. The importance of Internal Alignment, as well as external, is critical for growth to occur. The Summary amusingly includes material “For those who want a quick reference … or are one of those readers who skip to the end.” The last 15% of the book are devoted to a most helpful Index, a sizable number of Acknowledgements and a modestly short About the Author.

In Aligning the Dots, Philippe Bouissou clearly articulates and defines major business principles to successfully grow any business. He developed a construct called - A4 Precision Alignment – and these practical theories were conceived from his 28 years experience as a management consultant and venture capitalist where he worked with a variety of more than two thousand companies.

His A4 Precision Alignment which is trademarked, provides a framework and new approach to measure, and most importantly, to correct misalignments between business and its target market. It illustrates a data driven methodology to build a Growth Playbook, a roadmap, to pursue future success.

I found the book refreshing, easy to read, and energetic in its approach. It was obvious the author was extremely passionate about the subject matter providing excellent examples and case studies of his new A4 Precision Alignment framework. It is a must read for anyone in business or thinking of starting a business and should be required reading for business and MBA students. It should be read and then used consistently as a reference and is applicable to any business.

I thoroughly enjoyed, Aligning the Dots, by Philippe Bouissou and highly recommend it!
