This was a cute book about a Wide Receiver and his best friends younger sister. Ellie loses her job and her boyfriend all in one day. She heads to Las Vegas to be Maid of Honor at her brother’s wedding, and after a drunken one night stand things get interesting. Ellie has so many klutzy moments that just add some fun to the book.
Ellie’s brother has arranged for her to stay at his best friends house, but it turns out that this best friend was Ellie’s one night stand. Things get a little complicated, because Luke refuses to continue the relationship. Either way, they become roommates, and attempt to get comfortable with the situation. Ellie offers to help promote Luke on social media, but while planning this, his ex comes over, and Luke and Ellie have to pretend that they are engaged. This leads to more complications, and the book ends there. The continuation of the story will be in the following book.
Lisa Suzanne did a great job of writing this book, but it’s too bad, that it didn’t end in an HEA. If one wishes to continue the story, the follow-up books must be purchased.

Luke is a professional football player who hasn’t made the best decisions when it comes to the woman he allows in his life so he no longer believes in love or happy ever afters. When his private life becomes front page news Ellie might just become much more than his roommate.

The chemistry between them is intense, their interactions are humorous and I am looking forward to learning more about Luke and his past.

Fair warning: there will be spoilers, there is no way to describe the mess without spilling some details.

First of all, take a majority of the romance books you have read and then try to smash them all together into one. Let see: getting fired and dumped, brothers best friend, professional athlete, one-night stand, maid of honor and best man, roommates, he hired her and becomes her boss, crazy exes, fake engagement…and that just the first book. I only read the first few pages of the second book and it jumps straight into tabloid/media gossip, pregnancy scandal, and a proposed fake wedding all within the first few pages of book two.

It’s too much, it went from having potential to a massive train wreck about half way through the first book. By the end of the book it was just ridiculous and cliche.

There is no chemistry between Ellie and Luke, no real connecting moments to make me, as the reader, feel like there could be more between them. Ellie tries a one night stand because she’s never had one. Then afterwards admits to herself that one-night stands are not her thing, and after one evening, wants more with Luke. She wants a fairytale and Prince Charming.

I find Ellie to be slightly on the clingy, boarder line manipulative side. She uses her PR experience to get him to hire her as his PR manager in order for her to spend more time with him and learn more about him because she wants him. She tells herself they are practically on a “date” because they order Chinese food and watch a movie together even though he has made it clear he wasn’t looking for a relationship.

Then Luke apparently goes temporarily crazy and tells his ex-girlfriend, who is close friends with his sports reporter ex-wife, that Ellie is his fiancée. Ellie plays along with it of course because it’s another way to try to manipulate Luke into something more. No surprise, the next morning the engagement rumor is all over the news as well as a pregnancy scandal. Ellie is quick to also use this as a way to continue the engagement, but also proposes a fake wedding.

It’s just way too much. I had to stop reading at that point. There is nothing really likable about any of the characters, as a matter of fact, I dislike a majority of them. This series is just not for me.
