The True Story of Old Saint Nick Kindle Edition

4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 13 ratings

The story of Santa Claus has cycled through so many myths and legends over the centuries that people are often unaware it likely has an amazing historical foundation! This fun and engaging book uses rhyme to catch little one’s attentions, and even explains history (and some legend!) in a unique and educationally beneficial manner. The story is grounded in a solid foundation of the traditional Christian faith, yet accessible and fun for all ages and backgrounds.

May this story bless you, encourage you to research historical figures further, and contribute to a very Merry Christmas for you and your family!

A GREAT true story of…
Old Saint Nick. I really enjoyed reading this together with my 10 year old son. It’s good to see history told in a way that’s not common nowadays. The book is quick and to the point with great explanations and the definition in italics on the bottom of the page is clear. That’s helpful! My son pointed out he loved that the illustrator did not have much on the faces. I asked him why did he think that she did that? He didn’t know. In responding to own my question was that it shows you to use your imagination on what the reader would think their emotions could be. The emotions are left up to the imagination of the individuals. That is a very unique way to inspire a child to think about the story deeper and develop the characters. Bravo! I love the book.

There is a great divide for those who reject the consumeristic Santa clause completely and those who still want to celebrate the man in the red suit. This book bridges that gap; it belongs with both parties. I love it because it is exactly what I try to explain about St Nick to my kids. They are fully exposed to Santa all around them at Christmas time so there’s no avoiding him really and I want them to know he was a real person who loved Jesus and this consumerism santa is far from the real person. It honors the name of Jesus and honors the name of Saint Nicholas without giving away the “magic” of Santa Clause for those families who celebrate him.

Not your typical Santa book, not your typical Christian Christmas book. An original and a great one at that!

I learned all kinds of stuff about St. Nick that I had no idea about! This story rhymes and has an engaging story about the legend of St. Nick. It also includes a fascinating short history at the end.

This would be perfect for a parent to share with a child who might be ready to "age out" of the whole Santa legend and learn the real truth or for parents who bypass the legend completely but want to draw attention to what matters the most - Jesus.

I’m really astounded. I was expecting it to be preachy or so-so. Nope. It lays out the factual story of Saint Nicholas WITHOUT disparaging Santa Claus in the least. Your kids will still believe in Santa if they already do, but they’ll also have a better appreciation for him and his original cause.
It’s written in rhyme , so it’s fun for the littles, but it doesn’t talk down to them at all. Just get it.

It’s an ok book if you re ready to tell your children the truth about Santa Claus. I do not like how it is added in that soon it spread and everyone was playing Santa for other people by leaving them gifts. It also only truly mentions the st nick character giving gold to a family. No gifts no toys. It also mentions the girl were about to become slaves. It does also mention st Nicholas being a Jesus follower but it doesn’t blend that well into the story to me. The graphics and pictures are very drab and gloomy. It does give factual information at least partially. I have not been able to verify the part about slavery but I also could have done without that drab fact especially since it’s written for children on the subject it is. It also mentions st nick hitting someone and Jesus being killed. This is not all appropriate in one children’s book even if the kids know of some of the things from the Bible.

Never knew the facts of Santa. This book explains it all so well. Makes me and the kids love and appreciate Santa even more. He was a great man. My older kids like it cuz it’s not too wordy and boring with the facts and definitely very easy to understand for my little one. Good book! Buy it! You’ll love it!

I was so happy to read this at my age and feel so reconnected to the true meaning of Christmas and still embrace the wonder of Christmas, of which I never want to let go. I am so excited to share this with my family so they can feel the same experience!

I purchased 3 books to give as gifts to my grandchildren. The story is sweet and will inspire my grandchildren to help others with the gifts that they have received. I love how it brings the true meaning of Christmas and the history of Saint Nick together.
