Miles Heat became a superhero to make the world a better place. Known to the world as Vesuvius, he and his teammates from GRAIL have lived and trained together within the confines of GRAIL city, venturing out only when duty called.
Now with some much-needed vacation time, Miles returns to his childhood home, only to realize that although he has changed, the neighborhood has not. A battle is brewing between a local street gang and a deadly drug cartel, and Miles finds his two younger brothers caught in the crosshairs.
With the aid of his teammates, Miles must find a way to prevent all-out war in the streets of Chicago. Moral values will be compromised, and dangerous alliances must be made if Miles is to ensure the safety of his family. But how far is he willing to go to protect his family?

Top review from the United States

Reviewed in the United States on August 13, 2023
This book gets off to a slow start, which is frankly not easy to get through. The temptation is to put it down and move on, but it is surprisingly worth the struggle through the start. By the end, the story is one that leaves the reader with a sense of adventure that's fun to explore. The book only gets a four-star rating because there are an above-average number of spelling and grammar issues that should have been corrected by a good edit before publication. But that aside, it is a fun read.
