Hypnosis unlocks so many secrets in your mind - it opens up new vistas and brings new and undiscovered pleasures.
But can you use hypnosis to trick your own mind? Can you use hypnosis to make yourself forget what just happened, what's going to happen, where you are, or even where you are?
Hypnotist LeeAllure and her subject, D.J. Pynchon embarked on a challenging series of experiments, using hypnosis to discover if hypnotic amnesia can be imbued in a skeptical mind. Whether you're just curious about recreational hypnosis or it's a long-standing interest of yours, you will find something compelling in their journey and in the wide array of approaches to the subject.
Your adventure begins in three, two, one...

- Reviewed in the United States on January 3, 2016I have been eagerly awaiting this book. My introduction to hypnosis came when I witnessed an erotic hypnotist give his girlfriend an orgasm in the parking lot when we were standing around smoking, just by snapping his fingers, and then put her under a hypnotic drug trip and left my girlfriend and I to watch over her for the next few hours. It was an experience that stuck with me that made me want to learn more. But until I came across "the Books of Wiseguy" I didn't have much good information on real hypnosis. It seemed I was tragically doomed to wade through a sea of New Agey BS, sure that the right books were out there somewhere but coming across all the wrong ones instead. I had never previously had an interest in hypnosis in a specifically erotic context, but one day it occurred to me to see what I could find, and it lead me to the two outstanding books written by Mark Wiseman, aka Wiseguy, which I absolutely devoured. Much to my surprise, an event in my area called WEEHU was just around the corner, and I noted that DJ Pyncheon and LeeAllure (who Wiseguy praised in his books as highly skilled in the area of hypnotic amnesia - the very topic which I found to be most fascinating of all) were teaching a class. And the name of that class? Hypnotic Amnesia! Jackpot.
WEEHU turned out to be awesome, spectacular, and outstanding, something I WILL be doing again next time, but what convinced me to buy my ticket in the first place was the fact that LeeAllure and DJ Pyncheon were teaching a class in the very subject that most fascinated me. I enjoyed their class, but I was a bit disappointed in that it felt a little bit like a big plug for the book they were writing at the time - this book - offering plenty of "what you can do" but not enough "how to do it". A few months later and the book has finally arrived! I could not be more thrilled. All of the "how to" of hypnotic amnesia is explained quite clearly here (the book assumes you already know hypnosis 101 stuff). It offers 32 different methods for using hypnotic amnesia, and shows (via transcripts) how they actually played out between hypnotist (Lee) and subject (Pyncheon).
I am very, very, very pleased. The book is excellent and it was well worth waiting for. LeeAllure is worth her salt. Pyncheon is an excellent subject (and a lucky man). And green dolphins live to eat fish. Truly a book to remember on how to forget.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 31, 2020Remembering: Just For Fun
I have been a fan of Lee Allure's hypnosis files on mp3 for several years. This book confirmed a lot of what I already believed. She is an excellent hypnotist with a very interesting inquisitive mind and great facility with words, with the English language. I enjoy hypnosis and have some confidence in it as a hypnotic subject for both entertainment and self improvement. I have read a number of books on hypnosis, and this was clearly the most interesting and most fun.
The authors are Lee Allure, the hypnotist, and D.J Pynchon, an attorney who is the hypnotic subject. The book format is basically a narrative of their experiments with hypnotic amnesia techniques and results, and each of their recorded observations after each experiment.
Most readers will probably be other hypnotist, wanting to learn techniques for their own practice. And I think the book could be very helpful in this way. But it is fascinating and conversational, not dry or scientific. So for me it was fun! And extremely interesting. And I suspect there are a few nuggets for scientists on the unconscious brain, short term memory patterns, and the role of hypnosis, for anyone willing to approach the book with an open mind.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 29, 2016This book was quite an immersive delving into the titled phenomena. Lee Allure and DJ Pynchon explore a lot more experiments than I thought there would be for testing Hypnotic Amnesia. Though #14 was probably my favorite of all, all of them were fascinating to a greater or lesser degree. Figuring out the format was a little confusing at first, but once I did, I was glad to see how the hypnotist and subject both candidly transcribed their accounts with dialog, notes, what did and didn't work between them, and the course of her inductions. I was aware of Lee Allure as a hypnotist, and her style seems as engaging in writing as it is audibly. It was easy to imagine myself present during each trial, or even as Lee's subject, knowing what might and might not work for me, happy to have a part in it.
A very enjoyable book by two trance enthusiasts who obviously have an adventurous passion for hypnosis, and satisfied a bit of my curiosity for how far someone can go into hypnotic amnesia.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 18, 2017This book is outstanding. As I read through it I couldn't help but be more interested more and more with each experiment. It doesn't directly tell you how to do any of the experiments but a creative enough individual who is versed in hypnosis in some way should be able to glean information from the book. The workbook in the back of it also gives good tips and advice on how do each experiment.
As the book goes on, you can tell DJ's responsiveness grows as well especially when they get to the more "sledgehammer" style suggestions.
I loved every bit of the book, it's a fun read. And entertaining to see a snapshot into the life of two individuals who obviously grow together.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 16, 2021The best book I read about hypnosis last years.
Provocative and thoughtful. Very recommended, but not for beginners. Thanks a lot.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 14, 2016A charmingly in-depth look at a year-long experiment in improving one hypnotic subject's ability to forget things on command, by exhaustively trying every different method the authors could think of and taking notes on the results. I'm finding this book useful both for the variety of techniques documented, and for the look at exactly how they played out in practice, successes and failures and notes for future sessions. I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gute Anregungen und interessante Einblicke
