Great Lock and very compact
This lock was thinner than expected. Have assisted with a number of mag lock installs and service units in the past. Thus, I expected the same dimensions and other details.That said very impressed with the size vs weight and performance of this one. It is a rather strong unit for it being so small in stature. They used to be double if not triple the thickness of this one for same weight class.It should be noted to all first-time interested users that these units are for outward swing like a retail entrance door to a business. However you will need a Z and possibly an L bracket to use them in inward swing. This is a very common conversion and can mount to pretty much any door then. Also, should note these are NOT for outdoor use. Have seen someone do that before and the moisture in the air and right temperature range lead to heavy electrolysis corrosion due to the different metals and the power running thru the magnet. Not the device or manufacturer's fault. Simple laws of nature.Further to add some first time with this unit tips to others. See my pictures. The corner screws that attache the main unit to the bracket. When you go to break them apart the first time you may need pliers to get exta power if using short hex key (included). As well, if when you turn it and it feels popping and slipping you are not in the head of the bolt. It is bouncing on the side of it. The cannel is open in these units even if it looks like it. You have to go straight in to hit the bolt head. There is no guided drill out path to the bolt head.Final thought for other new to these. They can be direct wired to a 12v dc power brick and off the shelf 110v light switch to open and close it, but still would recommend a relay. The manual is brief on this too, but inclines to believe you would know these units already. For the SPTD relay they speak of. You can use a standard automotive one with socket, or direct to the relay with Female blade splice / butt connector. You can find them by looking for standard 87A auto relay.You can also buy lots of add on options like keypads, ReX units (push Request to exit buttons, controllers etc at good prices here on Amazon to complete your needs with this unit,Enjoy your new projects. I would very much recommend this product to other for performance vs price, and size is very nice too.
