Boils COLD water in 4 minutes. Metallic spout strainer...not plastic.
October 30, 2023 update: As mentioned in previous update, I used my older boiler for the toilet. Do NOT put boiling water in your toilet. HOT water is good, but not boiling water. It was raining in my basement, and I had to replace the wax ring in my commode. The boiling water melted my wax ring. This is not a review, but I had to warn others that it is NOT a good idea to pour boiling water in your pipes, after writing my previous update. Also, if you have a clog and that boiling water sits in one spot, it can mess up your plumbing. If you have a clog, use Dawn and WARM water. AND Do NOT use a kitchen boiler to pour water in your toilet; bacteria will splash up into the pot and can infect your family. Buy a separate pot to use for household purposes only, Now I can sleep at night.October 16, 2023 Update: My water boiler is still running strong. Unfortunately, my toilet isn’t. I found out that an hour of Dawn in the commode followed by a bunch of boiling water is the best way to remove a clog (you’re welcomed). So, like most oldsters who have had a strong and loyal career, it was demoted as toilet boiler, while the more youthful water boiler takes the coveted place on the kitchen counter…looking cocky and proud. I felt it had to be done this way, because I also have a microscope and have proven to myself that a heavy dumping of boiling water into the commode can and will result in backsplash landing on and inside the water boiler. Yes, the commode water is probably clean…especially after dumping a small bottle of dawn in the toilet water, but this is one time I don’t want to take any chances. So until it takes it’s last current of electricity, this big guy will be the household toilet boiler. The button is still a bit difficult to push, but it still works. Thank you, water boiler, for taking one for the team and being a sport about it!May 2, 2023 Update: My pot stopped working again. When this happens, I try to push down the button, but the button flips back up again. But this time, I was able to turn it on, but it turned off before the water reached boiling.I figured this behavior meant the pot had finally reached retirement age. So I decided to open the other pot (same model, not been used). I reached over to unplug the cord, and the plug and about 2-3 inches of the cord was very very hot. So I unplugged the cord, and waited until the cord cooled. In the meantime, I discovered that I had my instant pot sitting on the cord, by accident. I’m not sure if this was why my cord turned hot (I’m not an electrician), but I freed the cord from the ruthless instant pot (sometimes appliances don’t get along in my kitchen). When the cord was finally cool, I plugged it back in and it worked like a charm! Now, I’m not sure if an overheated plug was why my pot had stopped working in the past (I mentioned this behavior further down, and blamed it on a wet or overheated plate), but now I’m wondering if the cause of the pot going on a workpot’s strike, was because the cord was too hot. Either way, if it stops working, feel the plug. If it feels warm or hot to the touch, simply unplug it and wait until the cord cools.Thank you, Water Heater People, for saving me from burning down my own kitchen. ❤️February 4, 2023 Update:I made the mistake of leaving my water pot’s lid open when I turned it on. I got distracted and it boiled dry. Apparently the automatic shut-off mechanism is in the lid. When the lid is opened, the pot will not shut off automatically. So, I went out to pour my water and there wasn’t any. However, the good news is my house is still standing and this pot STILL WORKS! I assume the pot clicked off while water was still in the pot, and then, the rest evaporated. If it had boiled completely dry, the elements would’ve burned out, I’m sure. The second pot I purchased is still in its box waiting to be used.As for this original pot, I now make sure to tap on the lit before turning it on, just to make sure the lid is closed. It’s become a ritual. 🙂November 2022 Update:I still haven’t used my second pot, yet. The first pot is still going strong. Occasionally, the lid gets sticky, and is difficult to open, but it’s an occasional issue. My water heater blew a few days before Thanksgiving, and this little fella picked up the slack! It heated water for dishes, and made Thanksgiving bearable.April 2022 Update:After almost a year of using the pot, it became difficult to switch on. I immediately bought a duplicate; because, dang it! I love this pot! After I put in the order, I was demonstrating to my husband how it doesn’t turn on, and it turned on! My only explanation of what was happening was that something got wet and it hadn’t dried out yet. I do tend to shoot the water from the tap across the counter into the pot...just to make housework more fun. Maybe I should stop doing that, because water can get into the handle. If your pot suddenly stops working, my suggestion is to unplug it and briefly take a blow dryer to the electric base and the pot’s base. If you have time, forget the blow dryer, and just set it aside to dry naturally. Many of my appliances, when over heated or wet, will cut off and become unusable until it cools or dries out.At least I have another pot. If this gets wet again, I can replace it with the new pot until this one dries out. I’m thinking of buying another pot just for the purpose of boiling eggs. That way, I won’t have to worry about bacteria getting in the coffee.July 2021 update...so, yes, just like others have reported, about a month or so after using it, it suddenly wouldn't turn on. No light, no heat. But I'm not one to sit idly by, and accept a setback as my new reality. No, Sirree! If I'm going to throw something out, I'm going to figure out the cause of the setback so I can repair it. In this case, the first ring around the protruding pin at the center of the bottom of the carafe became rusted. The rust blocks a current between the base and the carafe, preventing the unit from working effectively. If you place the pot at a different angle (place the pot with your alternate hand, for instance), it may work. At any rate, I simply used a fine-grade sand sponge and sanded off the rust. Steel wool may work, also; but it is a very precise and microscopic job, either way. After I sanded off the rust, I blew off the rust residue and added a thin coat of coconut oil to prevent further rusting. So far, so good. I added pictures to point out the rust. As for the white spots inside the pot, that's going to happen if you have hard water. Hey, you didn't hear about people in the 16th century complaining about spots in their water boiler, did you? Of course not! Those lucky people didn't have to deal with water spots, because they carried their water in from the creek and poured it in an iron kettle. I'm sure you can find an iron kettle on Amazon. I'm not sure where your closest creek is. Maybe Google Maps can show you...OR...you can buy white vinegar or just pretend the spots aren't there.Mild update: Since I'm correcting typos that I failed to catch earlier, I will say as of today, June 14, 2021 the coconut oil appears to be holding its own. I added a wee bit more, but the kettle hasn't stopped or failed to start since I applied the first thin coat. 🙂Older review: I love it! My last water boiler almost caught my house on fire, leaked and the water sloshed out of the spout. This water boiler pours very smoothly and boils 1 liter of COLD water in four minutes. I haven't timed warm water, but I will confirm it's going to be less than four minutes. The blue light is ok; not as spectacular as I thought it would be. But I didn't buy this for entertainment. The spout strainer pulls forward, covering the spout when you close the lid. When you open the lid, it has a spring that allows the strainer to be moved down for filling water. It doesn't stay down, but it won't snap off when you're trying to fill the carafe, which was its intended purpose, I believe. It IS made of metal, so you don't have to worry about poisoning your family with seeping plastic chemicals. In fact, nothing on or in this pot that comes in contact with liquid is made of plastic. The handle and outside of the lid are plastic for the purpose of insulating you from burns. I have on occasion been forced to use a silicone potholder to support the base while pouring, but I wouldn't remove points for that.It does NOT have a temp control...but you CAN watch it boil and could probably judge from the water's action and reaction when it's the temperature for you. Over time, you be a pro and figuring the proper tea temp.I really do like this pot, and would recommend it for my own grandmother, if she was alive to use it.The price is good for the product. I'd buy it if I were you. You don't know when the price will rise.I have a heat streak. So if something does go wrong with the pot after posting this review, I will be sure to return to post the issues. For now, it's working great!

So far, so good. We've had the kettle for 2 weeks and it works very well and quickly. Instead of a kettle on the stove taking 5 to 7 minutes to boil, this kettle boils in 2 minutes. We are spoiled. I like the blue lights around the bottom inside that can be seen through the glass. The handle is comfortable for lifting an almost full carafe. The only thing that I know I won't like to do is clean the minerals on the bottom or inside of it. But that is something that would have to be done, no matter.

I'm buying another one after the auto-shutoff failed after 3 years. Simple and performs very well. A key feature for me is that the auto-shutoff works even at high elevation. I live at 6300', where water boils at 201°F, but the auto-shutoff detects boiling water and shuts off after about 15 seconds or so.

The pour filter is too restrictive for my liking, but it's attached to the lid, so it's easy to open the lid at pour with no restriction. I would appreciate an audible alert when it shuts off, as well as a keep-hot function. But these are nice-to-haves, not requirements for me. Simplicity is a balancing virtue, so I'm not reducing my rating because these features are missing.

We did experience some light rusting of the stainless steel bottom of the pot; however, this seemed to have no ill effects on the function or taste.

I’m upset I didn’t think to purchase an electric kettle sooner, in fact I didn’t know there was such a thing until searching for a kettle as I wanted one for my stove top. We drink a lot of tea but *gasp* I always heated the water in our microwave.

I love that there is a light indicator letting you know it’s on warm, I don’t think it’s needed when boiling because when it’s in a boiling state, you know… but it does make it pretty!

I love that it does boil water very, very quickly all the way up for seven cups. We usually do 3-4 cups for tea. However, I’ve also been using it when I need to have boiled water for cooking. If I get working late and my son’s getting out of practice for one of his sports, I know if it was a pasta night that I can have enough boiled water without having to wait for it to heat up and boil on the stove. I put the pasta into the pot, pour the water in, and turn on the heat to keep the water going while the pasta cooks. Much faster!

It has several settings, though I really only use the “boil” because we use herbal tea, which I’ve read is better to have steeped in the 210 degrees. It has a setting for coffee, which my son loves coffee and has asked for a French press coffee maker; I know nothing about coffee but I assume that French press doesn’t boil its own water so this kettle is, again, perfect. I do have some green tea, and there’s a setting for that but haven’t used it yet, and we don’t need the other settings but if you have white tea, etc. there’s settings for those.

This kettle has been a lifesaver for tea and dinners! We have hard water so it does get build up even when washed but water with a little vinegar works perfectly!!

Definitely a great purchase and highly recommend.

Our work break room has one of these kettles and it heats water so quickly for tea, cocoa, soup, you name it. I was very impressed so I bought one for my home. It was very lightly used at home, but one day the lid near the hinge broke off randomly. I was so disappointed, but went to my Amazon order history and saw I had ordered my kettle 22 months ago, so I was within the 2 year limited warranty. One email and less than one week later, I had a brand new Cosori glass kettle on my porch. So impressed with the swiftness of customer service. I really think my broken kettle was a weird fluke, because I’ve seen how much use this product gets at my workplace and has held up very well. Thank you for a great product Cosori!!

This is a very nicely made glass and plastic water kettle. I was a bit hesitant to buy this, but the multiple temperature settings and glass container made me take the chance.

    Pros:
    Very fast boiling of water.
Looks nice enough to leave it on our butler's table next to the coffee pot.
Quality glass and stainless steel materials.

    Cons:
Scales up very quickly. I have to wipe vinegar in it more frequently than I'd expect to descale it.
The plastic parts may not hold up over time.
I have to remember to press Cancel each time or it will continue to try and boil water.

Overall, I'm very satisfied with this kettle.

Having already had an electric kettle for my tea for about 15 years now, I knew what I needed. Ordered a different one from Amazon a few weeks ago and already returned it, as I was not at all happy with it! But this Cosori is absolutely perfect. It's the right size for serving either company or just me, and the various settings for different teas at different heats are perfect, as I don't always want the water boiling hot! While the lid doesn't come off altogether, it opens quite wide, adequate for filling the pot with water or cleaning it as needed. I enjoy having it automatically keep the water hot for an hour. And the kettle is quite attractive on my counter, and really lights up (in blue) when it's heating the water up. All in all, I am once again a happy Cosori customer, having purchased their 6 qt air fryer a few months ago, which we use daily and love!!!

It's Cosori! They make good things. I got this because I think it was slightly cheaper on sale than the Hamilton Beach one. This little guy is fantastic. It lights up and boils water, turns off automatically, but the thing I do like is that there isn't a plastic filter or spout, that it's a good brand so it will last. I am going to move soon, so it's also not too heavy or difficult to place. I'll just pop it in some bubble wrap and be good to go. I do dump this out after each round of water so I can reduce build up, but it is fantastic. The real benefit here is the brand because Cosori is just on point for its products. Otherwise, it's a kettle, and you can make your peppermint tea with this no problem after a stressful day at work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great kettle!

    update: Jan. 2025
ten months using kettle and it is still working great, kettle is still very clean with one water/vinegar boil per month

update: have been using it several times daily now for six months and no problems yet

One of the best, if not “the” best, kettles I have ever used. The design of not filling it up over the maximum line and yet still can fill it with quite a bit of water to the maximum line (with still quite a bit of upper space in the kettle) is a great design as it allows the quick boil and strong boil without water overflow or splashing out. It is wide and spacious inside allowing enough water and when cool hand cleaning. It is super easy to clean with some vinegar in the water, boil, cool, dump out, wipe the inside scaling on bottom with paper towel or whatever and wipe glass and voila! Give another clear water boil to clean from vinegar wash. Ready to boil for coffee, tea, whatever again! You can view the inside of the entire kettle at all times. With a bit of needed fiddling the cord can be wrapped some in the under-space and through the opening space with the right amount of cord to plug and the base will sit flat. I have been using it daily now for four months and no problems with it thus far…
I am really impressed with this kettle. Seems to have covered avoiding common problems of some past kettles.
Don’t know if “longevity” or not yet…

5.0 out of 5 stars A reasonably priced kettle that ticks all the boxes
Reviewed in Canada on February 23, 2024
    Size: 1.8 QuartsColor: ClearVerified Purchase
    Summary:

    ✅ Large capacity
    ✅ Lightweight for the size
    ✅ Easy temperature control
    ✅ Supports higher-altitudes
    ✅ Beeps when complete
    ❌ Guard filter ineffective

Finally, a kettle that works! (don't ask, but this is our 4th kettle, I have kettle-fatigue ...)

It's a good capacity if you need to boil water for cooking or have a lot of people needing a cuppa, but it's pretty lightweight and the handle is well-insulated and makes it easy to lift. It lights up blue to show it's boiling and then beeps when completed (not always obvious if set to a lower temperature) and if the keep-warm function is enabled, it lights up white. The keep-warm function is easy to turn on and off and whatever it's set to is saved from then on (indicated with a blue or white light on the power switch, though strangely the white light on the switch means it's off - IMO it would make more sense to be the other way round).

The temperature control options are easy to operate and most importantly, they work as you'd expect - some kettles insist on always boiling to 212F / 100C and then cooling down to the set temp (which is a waste of energy and could be dangerous) but this stops when the temperature is reached on the way up - perfect!. We had issues with our last kettle never turning off due to the 3,500ft altitude preventing 212F ever being reached, even when a lower temp was set, but this one works perfectly (and still turns off when set to fully boil).

Overall, very happy with it for the price. The only minor complaint would be the guard filter which doesn't look like it will be very effective as there is a large gap between it and the glass, but as the kettle looks like it should be easy to clean, it shouldn't be needed anyway and it does look fairly robust.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome glass & stainless steel 1.7L kettle - 7 min tap cold boil
Reviewed in Canada on June 19, 2020
I recommend this kettle to everybody. There is no plastic that the water or steam touches - the pout mesh is good quality stainless steel while the body is glass with stainless steel bottom. The kettle is a tad wider and a tad shorter than all other kettles I owned. I personally love the fact that it is shorter - it makes it very easy put under the tap to fill. I use over the counter filter and after 2 weeks hasn't got any mineral deposits on the bottom. Even when they appear, I know from previous steel bottom kettles, that boiling water with a juice of one lemon a few times and letting it sit for 10min completely removes deposits, so I ma not worried. Blue light indicates that the kettle is on. No issues with auto switch off so far or a dry boil switch off (I put it on in the dark, so didn't see if there was a water. It switches off right away, so I had to switch on the light to see what was going on. There was no water in, so I confirmed that dry boil protection works). The white and glass that I bought is very nice and not cheap looking. Overall, very happy with the purchase, albeit I must admit that my old plastic kettle with stainless steel bottom was boiling full tap cold 1.7 litter water in 5 min vs this one taking 7min but really when is 2 minutes makes a difference?
