Review

"Aidan Wachter has done it again! Wachter is one of the most brilliant minds in the field of modern magick and 'Weaving Fate' is a prime example of that. Innovative, insightful, poetic, and powerful, Wachter proposes that we needn't be victims of fate, but as sorcerers possess the inner tools to change both how the past affects us and use that as energetic fuel to directly alter the course that the threads of fate are headed in. 'Weaving Fate' urges us to write our own narrative instead of having it be written for us; all it takes is a bit of sorcerous elbow grease, a vivid imagination, a steadfast magical vision, and a story so compelling it will move the Fates themselves to reconsider your destiny."
-
Mat Auryn author of Psychic Witch: A Metaphysical Guide to Meditation, Magick, and Manifestation

"If most contemporary magic books read like amateur recipe-blog narrative nonsense, Weaving Fate is Mastering the Art of French Cooking; rich with foundational practices designed to strengthen any magical operator no matter their experience level, working this book will leave you both nourished in the immediate and fortified in perpetuity. It is unlikely anyone will walk away from this book unchanged."
-
Meredith Graves

"The only thing better than noticing the actions of unseen forces is the ability to reverse engineer them into practices that are teachable and beneficial. That's what Aidan has done in his new book. Its a rare thing to read something entirely new, yet resonant with the past.

His first book Six Ways presented a general vision of magic, and a set of very useful practices that will go down as a classic magical primer. It will be a lot of peoples first books on magic for many years to come.

Weaving Fate is different than Six Ways. Rather than a general vision or collection of practices it is a cohesive explanation of a single complex undertaking. It achieves this not only through direct instruction, but through examples that the reader can study in depth. Aidan doesn't just tell you how to do something, he shows it being done. That is rare. Go order the book."

Jason Miller author of The Sorcerer's Secrets, The Elements of Spellcrafting, and more.

"Holy monkey. What a delight to read this book! I am so stoked for people to add this to both their praxis and worldview. The book is solid and also important for this time. Aidan's voice is incredibly clear and coherent, and the book as a whole feels like an arrow flying true to its target. Or like catching a wave". -

Weavers looking for co-workers!
This is an amazing work. Reading it inspires me greatly and the workings are easy, natural and incredibly powerful. If someone asks me what one book to read for practical magic, this is it.The practical part and the examples he gives make the work very well explained and the transformation and magic the 'fictional' character is going through are actually very moving.Love the book!But... It could have used an editor. Mainly for the introduction which is a bit rambling, indirectly connected to the workings, and could do with a little better use of paragraphs, spacings, headings etc.But that doesn't detract from how amazing this book is. I'm doing magic on and off for 20 years, but the workings described in here will be my main way of doing practical and self transformative magic for the foreseeable future. Also, in discussions with the author on Facebook, you can also use these workings to help weave a better fate for the world around you. We need more magical weavers who are willing and able to dream a better life for all of us, connected with spirits, the Earth and each other in meaningful ways.So get this book, make friends with the Weavers and become part of the witches that work for the web of the world.

EDIT: I MUST eat my words here. The more time I have spent with this book, the more I have come to understand the way that it works, and how intricate it is without being complex. This style of magic is a style of magic many people will balk at the first time they read - I know I did. I am part of Aiden's Facebook Group, and while everyone was in love with the title, I really did not care for it. I kept it, had a look through certainly, but ultimately the magic provided was not a magic I was seeking. But mainly because it isn't *showy* magic. The magic provided in this book could almost be acquainted with "The Secret" in that the focus is on changing the way the mind approaches and thinks about a problem. But, and I cannot stress this enough, *that is truly where the similarities end.*

The way this magic works seems based on the principle of Patterning, and having finally come to a breakthrough understanding about this process within the last month, I decided to read the book again. Good God Almighty, I was not prepared. This is adult magic. This is workable, problem-solving, measurable, and well-rounded magic that can be combined with nearly any other form of magic that exists, and better - it is all based on writing, something which is in and of itself, magical.

To be clear, I am getting nothing from editing this review. I am editing this review because it was incorrect. This book is valuable. It is so, so valuable, and I was in the wrong for having passed judgement on something I did not understand in the first read-through.

Original Review:
It's not bad by any stretch of the imagination. It's just not really for me. While the exercises are great for working through personal traumas and past issues, it's really more akin to "The Secret" in it's approach. Im certainly not knocking it, it's just not what I was expecting or hoping for when I read the overview.

There are some interesting concepts explored in the book about how to change your life in ways you really want deep down to change them. Whether magic or a psychological trick you play on yourself, I'm willing to bet that putting these concepts into practice is going to help you achieve what you really want out of life, and also make sure that what you want to achieve is actually worth pursuing to you or something you can put to the wayside. Super interesting concepts in here! Really love it. Will have to reread it and absorb it more.

Aidans work here is phenomenal. Again. I had to get the digital version of this on top of a hard copy because it’s a book that I will be going back to again and again and sometimes it’s not convenient to be carrying around a book on magic and sorcery. Aidan cuts out all of the BS and dogma you get with 99% of occult authors and gets right down to business. Everything in this book is practical and user-friendly, and dare I say it, effective. The ideas in this book are open enough to mesh with any magical/religious system yet are capable of standing on their own. To any one interested in practical magic this is the second book I would recommend. The first is Aidans other book Six Ways.

In one view, magic is about altering probabilities, making desired events more likely to occur through ritual and manipulation of the mind and the world. Kind of a generic and overbroad statement, but it can be a useful way to think about the deeper purpose of what we do as practitioners.
What Aidan gives us here is a system of altering probabilities by explicitly exploring alternate probabilities with the Corridor, manipulating those probabilities with the Black Book, and consuming and digesting negative probabilities with the Fever Stone. It’s a simple enough practice, but it’s a solid approach, and the pieces all work together to give practitioners a system for rewriting their own lives.
If life is a story, we can learn to write a better one. And this gives us a good toolkit for doing so.

When I first did the steps of the book; I had to do a lot of psychological orientation to figure out what I truly wanted. I was a bit skeptical but kept loyal to the steps and had some shocking results along the way, sometimes in the form of dreams and otherwise manifesting after some time. Everything I've written is coming into my life- especially when I got into trying to get into the FEELING of already obtaining said entry that I'm writing about.

I tried to like this book due to the rave reviews. I just couldn't get into it. It seemed like a lot of rambling. I felt like this was all his point of view, his philosophy, his personal epiphanies. That's okay, to each their own, but I stopped reading it after a few chapters. I couldn't resonate and I was getting bored reading it.

I did not learn anything other than the author's continuous ramblings about his childhood. I bought the book because of its popularity and everyone telling me how good it was. No ahah moments no secrets...if you know a bit about magic this book is not for you.

I really love this book. It’s very clear in the how to. I’ve only read it the once and intend to read again. One problem for me, being in the UK is, I’ve found it impossible and financially prohibitive to get hold of Abre Camino herb, it would be great if he could suggest a European road opener herb alternative. For me it would be essential to pick the herb myself. Secondly I don’t have a bath, so the guidance on taking herbal cleansing, magical baths is a bit lost when all you have is a shower - can’t really soak in a lovely herbal soup in a shower... so again, an alternative suggestion would be great. I’m only a beginner and not au fait with herb magic etc. Even so, I would highly recommend this book, I finished up buying a second copy for a friend.

If you want clear, workable routes into practical magic that aren't tied up into any one philosophy, Aidan is the guy for you. His writing is engaging and easy to follow yet never simplistic. I always thought his previous book, Six Ways, would make a very good self-directed magical skill-building course and Weaving Fate now refines this to three magical practices to bring about effective change about in your life. His mottos of go narrow and deep, and whatever works, works are very freeing if you've spent years bouncing from one magical idea to another and not really gelling with any of them. I highly recommend this book and his previous work, Six Ways.
