I really appreciate the pocket on each side. You can use it for: speed strip, single-stack magazine, credit card/cash/ID, etc.
You could add a speed strip or a magazine on each side, but that makes it BULKY, so it's not practical.
The 2 non-slip bands work, but don't expect them to be fail-safe with loose fitting outerwear/pockets. The holster isn't super sticky like the 'Sticky Holster,' but the 'Sticky Holster' isn't 100% reliable in loose clothing either.
If this is used extensively/exclusively with a particular model, it will develop a memory in the shape of that model, so keep that in mind. If you carry multiple models, just dedicate one for each model.
Because it's a fabric holster, don't expect this to be super durable and last for years, especially with daily use.
I like this and am happy with it.
For me, it's for using with a G43. And the fit is quite decent. If this holster was fully customized for the G43, it would cover a smidge more of the frame. But I'd call it a good 8 out of 10 points for fitment. Very usable. Fits my jean front pocket well. Then if you withdraw the G from the holster, from within your pocket, the two sticky bands (grey horizontal ones on the picture) sort of grip your pocket hole on the way up, thus causing the G to come free and clear, while the holster is sitting there with it's opening flush with your jeans pocket opening. Pretty cool.
Turns out it is great for a snubbie .38, since they are longer, and it works fantastic with my .38 Ultralight, but it completely engulfs the P3 or LCP. So while I can reach in my pocket and wrap my hand around the grip on my revolver, and draw without the holster coming out of the pocket or interfering with the draw quickly and easily, such is not the case with the micro size auto pistols. With this holster you would either have to try and fish them out of the holster with a two finger grip (Not recommended in a stressful situation...) or pull out the holster and gun together and then remove it from the holster. Neither of these scenarios is optimal. So I just use it for my Taurus Ultra-lite .38, and use my practically worn out Blackhawk! #3 which is very like this UTG pocket holster only 1 size smaller.
Bottom line follows: Both of these holsters are made of practically identical materials and construction, however, the Blakhawk! item was over twice the price of this UTG, and was no better made. Such being said; over the years I have seen many of these pocket holsters, and practically all of them are nearly identical in build and materials reguardless of brand. All of them are made in China, and I would not be surprised to find they are all made by the same outfit and branded for the different sellers. The reason this is worth mentioning is this; I don't think there is any real difference in any of these plastic and fabric pocket holsters except price. So if you are looking for one to help break up the outline of the gun in your pocket, make it easier to grab and fish out of your pocket in a hurry, and give it a bit of protection from other pocket items, lint, and dirt; then this is the one to get. if you look around online you can find these type of holsters for around $6 like this UTG, and going up to around $25 So, be careful, there are many different types, and some of them are in fact more robust than this, but they will be made a bit differently, so look around. if all you need is one LIKE THIS, then get one of these UTG holsters. Unless you are looking to go to a leather pocket holster, there is no sense in paying any more than this. My old Blakhawk! #3 was exactly like this UTG when I got it over 5 years ago, and I have carried it every day since except to work or in the shower, and it is still workable, even if very worn. So I'm now looking another UTG, ONLY IN THE NEXT SMALLER SIZE. Hopefully they make one. Seriously; for under $6 you can't beat these. Also; I need to mention this, UTG has kind of a bad reputation for making "cheap" stuff; as in shoddy cheap stuff. To an extent this is true, but they have a lot of different stuff out there. As stated above; you can get one of these holsters from other companies, and pay two or three times more for the exact same design, materials, and quality of construction, and the only difference will be you could have bought 2 or 3 of these for the price of one of those. Yes, UTG makes (Or at least sells with their name on it...) some stuff I would not buy. But we're not looking at a $50 rifle scope here.
Lastly: Here is what it is. (And most of this description is true for all of these type of holsters -- reguardless of vendor, The only difference in my Blackhawk #3 and this UTG is size, the tag sewn to it, and the fact the UTG has little pockets on each side.) Inside you get soft nylon fabric, the outside of the holster is a soft, suede-like fabric impregnated with something to give it that slightly tacky suede feel, which helps it stay in your pocket during the draw. Between the inner and outer layers of fabric is a light foam padding, and around the middle of the outside is a couple of inch wide plastic strips that look like leather, which are supposed to help keep it in the pocket during the draw, but they are a bit slick, and I think it is actually the outside suede like cover, and the fact that the strips stick up a bit that really helps with that. Also be aware that the suede like surface on the outside fabric will start to wear off after a few years, but it doesn't really matter for the function of it. It has worn off of my old #3 almost completely, leaving behind a very soft fine fabric, but it still (Usually) stays in the pocket when I draw. Also, should mention, thest type of holsters are also handy outside of a pocket. My wife uses one when she carries in her purse, I use mine to stuff my gun up under the ashtray, or in between the seats when I'm in the car -- where it helps hold it in place, and protects the finish.
So, if you are looking for this type of pocket holster, and if you are reading this; you probably are, then you can't go wrong with this one.
The material is suede-like with an outside pocket on both sides to hold like some cards or ammo or something small.
When you use it an put it in your pocket, it doesn't print like you are carrying. It looks like you have a thicker wallet in your pocket.
I also have those sticky or oddly shaped holsters as well. Those cost three to four times as much. But they stay in the drawer while this UTG gets used regularly. It fits multiple types of small guns and is comfortable in the pocket.
While this is definitely NOT a competition style holster, it is a very good casual holster that is also good value for your money.
Pros: It retains the gun just enough that it doesn't move around, but not so much that the holster tries to stay with the gun on the draw. The outside of the holster is no super-sticky, like some, but it stays put.
A real differentiator is the outside pocket. I can put a Bianchi Speed Strip loader with six .38 JHPs in the pocket and if I position it right, it doesn't change the outline of the holster much. I put the loader strip as close to the trigger guard as possible, with the rounds facing toward the cylinder. The rounds disappear in the pocket, with just the end of the strip poking out. I have to put the strip in the pocket before I put the gun in the holster. Otherwise the fit is too tight to get it in. If I wanted to, I could also put my driver's license, CHL and a credit card or a few greenbacks in the pocket on the other side.
Another differentiator is that it is a great size and shape. My LCR fits snugly, but amazingly, my Sig P290 fits snugly also. Alslo the outside shape fits casual pants pockets fairly well.
One con: This holster will make bigger bulge in your pocket than some. However, the outline does not make it obvious it is a gun in there. However, this one would not be my choice if I were wearing dress or tighter pants.
