Great Servo on my Cheetah

I have to laugh when someone says the gear stripped or it's not 180 degree. It's just not true. This thing is bullet proof. I like that it's super fast and accurate. I have it on my JLB Cheetah for over a year now. Not one issue period!!! It offers improved fast action over the stock servo at the speeds the Cheetah is capable of running. I also never had centering issues. If you have slop in your steering linkage...steering knucles you get slop. This gear driven...no slop.....Buy without worries.

I have purchased quite a few different "mid-tier" servos trying to find that ever elusive blend of power, speed, durability and price. I had seen variants of this servo and the price finally got down to around $40 (with coupon), so I decided to give it a try.

Pros:
Very, very fast
Great torque
Lots of useable servo horns

Cons:
Packaging (minor)
Deeper servo body (minor)
Center deadband/centering worse than coreless options

It comes in a clear bag - so a little underwhelming. Finish and heft of the servo is good. Looks just like the pics. Hooked it up with a 6V receiver pack and it is every bit as fast as advertised. It is also pretty quiet. The servo is a little taller so packaging could be tricky in some applications.

The biggest downside is the return to center. It is close - but it does not fully return and slight shifts at center do not return to position. In comparison, some of the DS3225/DS3235 variants have zero issue returning to center. The SPT 5835W is better for centering but not as quick.

For the extra $5-$10 versus others, I cannot really recommend unless you need the speed. The SPT 5835W/Injora brushless is a better value with slightly slower speed (more than enough for most users). It also is not as deep making it easier to mount.

If this servo ever is on sale for 30-35, it becomes intriguing. For now, this servo will probably end up in an application that is not as sensitive to centering.

Gears stripped too easily

I bought this to run in my Tekno ebuggy because the specs and price were too good to pass up. It does seem to live up to the specs - it felt very fast and very torquey and my car drove great with it in. However, the servo didn't survive one full battery pack on the track before a gear stripped out and it stopped working. For context my car has a servo saver and the much cheaper/worse servo that came with the car survived an entire race night.

Don't buy this servo. Spend more to get something nicer.

The media could not be loaded.

I almost sent it back. Because it did not swing 180 degrees. More closely reading the specs it say that the "Operational Travel" was only +/-60 degrees or 120 degrees. But it turns out that it works in my custom steering in my Redcat Gen8. Had to reverse the channel on the controller, but that is no big deal. Seems pretty quick compared to the new suposedly better redcat black servo. I have some other work to do before I can check strength and longevity. I do notice the trouble returning to center but so did the Redcat Gen9 new style servo

9/16/2023 Update: Seems to get stuck. Sometimes quick back and forth frees it up sometimes not. Thinking about returning it. I will Try 7.4 volts hopefully b4 the return date comes. Turning radius isn't as good as with the Gen8 Servo. I suspect that while this 9IMOD 35KG Servo seemed to be a little stronger, it seems to drop off at the extremes and just the load of turning is too much for it.

9/23/2023 Update Started to shake and then got stuck and smoked. I put the Gen8 servo back on and got my turning radius back. Yes I set the endpoints the same. Will be returning.

They seem to have taken out the description stating working range of 120 degrees. But it was there and that is all I got.

They put back the description in pictures LOL. But to be fair this servo might be fine in a Go Fast RC instead of a crawler
