Big Bear little Bear

I feel this book has explained Dementia in such a kind way. It may take away some of the fear a child feels when their grandparent has Dementia. It's such a lovely book about an awful subject

Written and illustrated with love and so much understanding

Full disclosure, I know Katie professionally as an outstanding physiotherapist and passionate advocate for people with dementia.

This is an outstanding book which will help children (and older ones!) gain better understanding of a condition that already affects 1 in 14 people >65 years in the UK, and between 2025 and 2040 will grow from 1 million to 1.6 million people living with dementia.

Not only is 'Big Bear, Little Bear and Dementia' beautifully and movingly written and illustrated, the metaphor of bookshelves within it is brilliant on so many levels.

Not only for individual family purposes, this is a book that would be invaluable for schools and libraries alike to foster the kinds of conversations that will become ever more needed through a lens of loving compassion. Buy one for yourself and those who you know will love it too - which is a lot of us.

So simply and beautifully explained!

This book is so beautiful I actually cried the first time I read it, and I don't even have a personal relationship with dementia! I do however work with a lot of people with dementia and will be recommending this book to everyone, not just those with small children.

I have never heard it so simply and beautifully explained!
