- Reviewed in the United States on September 5, 2012This is an awesome resource for all households. As US voter participation rates continue to decline and many people are disheartened by the actions of their politicians and decision-makers, we need to share resources such as this book. The authors do a great job in explaining how and why different forms of government operate as they do. It is difficult to understand an earlier reviewer who describes the book as "blatently biased". Regardless of their viewpoints, individual readers are encouraged to participate in their government. "If you want to make a difference, this book tells you how! Find out how to make YOUR VOICE heard, no matter how old you are". (p.7)
- Reviewed in the United States on November 25, 2013An excellent example of the Liberal agenda being pushed on our children. If you were looking for a nonpartisan book to learn about government, this is not it. When talking about Liberalism, the book says "we." It clearly illustrates that Liberalism is the ONLY moderate form of government, and it never talks about how conservatives care about localizing government and limiting federal government. Instead they say that conservatives "think that a government's authority and control is important." It was clear to me throughout, that this book was written with a one-sided point of view. If you have that same point of view, then I'm sure you'll love it.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 20, 2011Overall, I have found this book helpful in teaching my son. However, I am extremely disappointed in the biased nature with which it discussed liberalism vs. conservatism. The book paints everything about the liberal political party as progressive and altruistic, while disparaging the conservative party as self-serving and backwards. I found it to be based more on the author's opinions than on facts.

5.0 out of 5 stars All charged up!
My son is 8 and home educated. He loves to read and the DK series have been quite a hit. 'Who's In Charge' has become a favourite for its easy on the eyes approach to politics, a subject that can be very dry and intimidating. As usual there are a couple of pages devoted to historical figures which is interesting. The only confusion we had was that on the pages discussing the political rainbow, communism, for example, is on the blue end of the spectrum...This aside it is a great book and my mother-in-law is even going to get one for herself as it is so interesting. Ours came with us on a tour of Parliament last week!
