Editorial Reviews

Rocka Rolla is the debut studio album by British heavy metal band Judas Priest, released on 6 September 1974 by Gull Records. It was produced by Rodger Bain, who had made a name for himself as the producer of Black Sabbath's first three albums. It is the only album to feature drummer John Hinch."IT'S GREAT TO LOOK BACK AND SEE OUR FUTURE UNFURL-FROM LITTLE METAL ACORNS- MIGHTY METAL OAKS DO GROW. ONE SMALL STEP FOR METAL, ONE GIANT LEAP FOR METALKIND- A LIFE LONG METAL JOURNEY BEGAN WITH THESE SONGS. THIS ALBUM LIT THE ETERNAL METAL FLAME-AS REAL AND FRESH AS EVER FIVE DECADES ON." - ROB HALFORD

Shame on you.

Shame on you.
A 50th anniversary Judas Priest remix / remaster and it came in a flimsy cardboard package. They couldn't even put it in a nice jewel case. I'm sure the music itself will be enjoyable but the packaging is just atrocious. Shame on you for distributing such a wonderful album in such a crappy piece of packaging.

Sounds great. I didn't even know this album existed. Sounds more 70's rock then metal. Glad I got this cd. I play it all the time.

Played this album once in the late 70s and never listened again. This remix is AMAZING! Never thought I'd like this album, but this version is great. "Cheater" alone is worth the price.

I have the digital version of this new remastered and remixed album as well as the original version. This new version is nothing short of a revelation. It’s like some time traveler went back to the 70s and got Priest to record an album that we’ve never heard before until now. There is no comparison with the original version that’s been available all these years. This sounds like it was just recorded today.
If you prefer the Judas Priest hard rock sound from albums like Sin after Sin and Stained Class over their 21st-century rapid-fire metal albums, this is just an absolute gift from the metal gods.
Run of the Mill is the standout but the whole album is brilliant and sounds so good after getting the 2024 Tom Allom treatment. Highly recommended.

This remixed version, by Tom Allom, is a great improvement on the original which the band have always wanted to improve, but were unable to, until now. I would say that this album is now at the production standard of Sad wings Of Destiny or even Sin After Sin and fit in nicely with band's incredible back catalogue. It's much better. Well done Tom and the band. My standout tracks are Never Satisfied and Run of the Mill, but they are ALL improved. I like the embossed cover and the lyrics/poster insert, too. This is now a much improved album.

Been listening to this for 45 years. They did improve the sound quality but some small changes in the remix sounded odd to me. Overall pretty happy with it.
