About the author
Josie McClain is an educator, presenter, author, and lifelong learner. She was born and raised in Holland, Michigan and graduated from Holland Christian High School in 2012. She graduated from Hope College's education department in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in special education and is certified in special education, elementary education, and gifted education. In 2021, she earned her master's degree in social-emotional learning from National University in California. Josie currently teaches second grade in rural Arizona. She is passionate about differentiation and meeting the needs of all students. She currently has a published lesson in an educational journal, a book for teachers implementing brain breaks, and is in the process of a few more titles!
She loves Jesus, activism, the outdoors, animals, escape rooms, and watercolor painting.

I recommend this simple, easy, enjoyable book to help teachers effectively use brain breaks in their classroom and why they are super important!

While I’m not a teacher, I found value in the calming and movement brain break examples which I will be implementing with my team. While sitting in endless meeting marathons it’s a great reminder to take five minutes a couple times a day to get up and walk around the office or do a word game to keep focus!

I learned so many different strategies to implement with my students that need that extra brain break to focus on their learning! I also love these ideas to incorporate I tot he beginning of the year for get to know you games to make it a regular part of your schedule! Highly recommend !!

The examples of the different brain breaks, and ways to incorporate them into the classroom were absolutely perfect!! I appreciate learning from a current teacher who is facing similar challenges and I look forward to implementing some of these activities in my classroom!!
