I personally really enjoy a lot of things from the Japanese Culture, so overall the movie theme was very enjoyable for me. I know the original lore was change for some characters, hopefully people can overlook them for the sake of some good cinema.
A lot of the cussing could have been done away with. A lot of the scenes and the background lore was clever enough to add in some witty substitute lines that would have brought across the same emotional response and connection.
Brad Pitt was very likeable but did seem a little off in terms of bringing the audience in to connect with his character; the vibe was there but it just seemed off a little & could have been better.
Hiroyuki Shimozawa does an excellent job as always.
Tangerine and Lemon- highly likable.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson has really come a long way; this should jump start him up the chain IMO.
The Prince (Joey King )- was also likable and she did a good job with her character.
Michael Shannon does a decent enough job for his role.
We honestly did not need Sandra Bullock.
There are plenty of other actresses that could have done this role much better. ;)
Now some annoying things:
Really? A 105 to 115 pound fake nurse is going to overpower that guy? Really?
The Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds Cameos come across a little pretentious but I get it, the cameo from other movie thing, and most people will probably like this, it is what it is.
The Concept of a “Back Up” is not Mansplaining.
This term is so ignorant; it can go both ways, man on man, woman on woman, man on woman, woman on man; it's called being condescending & it has nothing to do with one's sex.
Sandra Bullock: please stop inserting your one liners based on your personal ideology, we all know it's not in the original script. We don't want to hear it; you have been likable over the years but are ruining certain scenes because of this. Please express your personal views on your own time, not on movie time when it's not in the script. Thank you :)
The Only True Elohim is not a she in nature but a He yet One of the Three was the Model for the human form of the she. HF, JC, and the “HS.” ;)

Brad Pitt is the catalyst for all of this and all he wanted to do was grab a briefcase and leave.

The show, for instance, is called "Bullet Train". Yet, the train is actually incidental to the story. In other words, the tale could have occurred anywhere; the train was not vital for most - if not all - of the show.
In addition, the movie suffers from an identity crisis; at times, it appears to be trying to be a comedy. At other times, it seems to be trying to be suspenseful. Yet, it fails, at both. On a couple of occasions, for example, I did not know whether to laugh or do something else!
There was a loose snake frequently shown slithering around the train, but, after a long, long,...long time, it was still not actually doing anything important or even contributing anything vital, to the...ho...hum...story. So, why spend so much time showing it? For me, after a while, it lost its importance and I was tired of seeing it. Hence, I felt the Producers missed a big opportunity here; they COULD HAVE HAD something like a "Snakes On A Plane" fiasco, but they did not.
Too much of the film was unexplained. Other parts seemed unnecessarily convoluted. A lot of the movie appeared to be unnecessarily stopping and going too many times.
Also, throughout most of the story, I found myself wondering where the train staff was; there just was not enough train staff around to give me the impression that this was an actual train. Similarly, in large parts of the so-called train, there were too many empty cars. The fully-stocked bar car, for instance, was empty!
That's right! The bar car!...And it was the only bar car on the train!...Yet, it did not even have a bar tender!
So, what was going on about that?
We never find out!
Also, it never seemed to occur to the movie's producers that some one should have been guarding all the expensive booze, which was stack up, behind the bar!
Yet, there was no one; customers were free to serve themselves!
Not a good business model, in my opinion!
In addition, it just looked unnatural!
Kids, it seemed, could wander in, help themselves, and get drunk!
It didn't look right.
Yet, this 'loose thread' was never addressed!
Furthermore, and as already alluded to, the story was largely underdeveloped. So, neither the characters nor the setting worked; a lot of this film seemed like a strenuous artificial effort, at putting different parts together, somewhere. This time, the Producers found a train, for those parts.
I do not think much thought went into writing the script.
So, I was disappointed!
