And they just woke up married.

Scarlett Kelly is the poster child for sensible decisions. She’s mortified when she opens her eyes in a Las Vegas hotel room and discovers she has more than just a hangover–she’s got a new husband.

Arrogant, tattooed rock star Gavin Bain.

Panicked, she grabs the marriage license and bolts back to Texas.

Good thing she wrote her name in the sensible panties she left behind.

Because Gavin needs to repair his damaged reputation and prove he can be a good father to the young son he just found out existed. And settling down–temporarily, of course–with his prim and proper new wife seems like the perfect solution.

Scarlett doesn’t have time for games–she’s trying to save her family’s farm. Besides, she’s spent her entire life trying to distance herself from her mother’s irresponsible behavior, and Gavin sets off a spark in her that’s hard to control.

Turns out, she’s not as prim as she lets on.

Will their unlikely matrimony give them exactly what they’ve been missing or send them running for the hills?

First I grinned. Then I giggled. After that, it's all a blur of heat and hilarity as Gavin and Scarlett tore up the page with witty banter and lingering love. Jami Albright's Running From A Rock Star is a must-read debut!-- New York Times bestselling author Julia Kent

Funny and flirty, Jami Albright has a winner on her hands!-- New York Times bestselling author Christi Craig

I love a good romance, especially if it includes humor as well as drama. Jami Albright's Running From a Rock Star fully ticks those two boxes for me. Now let's consider sex and sexy characters. Again, oh, my yes, plenty of that in this book! I usually try to determine whether a book is character driven or plot driven and this time it is both, which absolutely delighted me.This is the first of a series, and I will be eagerly looking forward to the next book. Ms. Albright is a new author, but now one of my favorites. Enjoy this first book of a coming soon series and you will be hooked, too. As the cliché goes, "You'll laugh, you'll cry," and you'll fall in love with Scarlett and Gavin.--Becky Condit USA Today Happy Ever After Blog

A very funny and engaging book, with just the right pacing. A lot of fun moments and you get to watch a love bloom before your eyes, and it is a blast getting there. I am not ashamed to admit that I totally laughed out loud in places.--Cyrene, Uncaged Book Reviews

Oh my gosh, this chick Scarlett is hilarious! By Chapter 9, I had already laughed so hard that I almost couldn't believe it!!! I am so KEEPING this book. Just the beginning of the book was enough to get the laughter rolling. Scarlett woke up to one heck of a day. The disasters just kept coming.

It had super great main characters and a supporting cast as well. Scarlett's best friend and attorney, Luanne Price was best described as a fierce elf. At least that was Gavin's impression that we heard from his inner dialogue. She was tiny but mighty and that included her mouth. And she was a fierce backer of her friend Scarlett.

Honey is Scarlett's aunt and she isn't the norm that you would expect. But she had a heart of gold, was flamboyant and as funny as all get out. I enjoyed every moment of her appearance in the story. And it was amusing to watch Honey wrap Gavin around her little finger. She had a special affection for him almost from the first time they met. And even he admitted it was almost impossible to tell her no. He was both charmed and amused by her.

Gavin had a best friend who was also an attorney. Jack Avery was smart , could be ruthless and snarky if anyone even tried to put one over on Gavin. A lot of added fun and humor came when Jack and Luanne clashed..constantly. They loved the witty battles, although they wouldn't ever admit it.

It wasn't all fun and games, although there was plenty of that. Both Scarlett and Gavin were carrying baggage from their childhoods. And Gavin had the extra weight of being a famous musician. Someone was always out to get what they could out of him. It made them more interesting and bit more complex, which is always interesting to me.

Oh, you are going to hate Poppy. I know I did. She was causing several problems for Scarlett and she was enjoying every minute of it. She was all up in Scarlett's face about it too. I knew Scarlett was going to find her way out of it but I just wasn't sure how it was going to happen.
I really loved the way Scarlett could try a phrase and make me laugh even more. Not cheesy but definitely funny! Like what she called her inner hussy would try to get out of her super good girl control, that was some of the funniest moments. That inner dialogue, made me grin. She was always telling that inner hussy to shut up and stop acting up. But whenever she was around Gavin, that inner hussy came out to play. Gavin actually began to understand there was two parts to her personality. The fiery redhead was who she really was and he did loved it when that part of her showed up.

I think this is the first book that I have read by this author but it won't be the last. In fact, I liked it so much I have already got the next book in this series," Running with a Sweet Talker". Please, Please don't disappoint me because this one was so good and I want to see that trend continue. Now, I'm going to have to find a way to put this in the Amazon title, "Loved, loved, loved it, let me count the ways".

I've got mixed feelings about the whole wake up married in Las Vegas thing. I think maybe it's the degree of drunkeness necessary to get yourself in that situation that I find so off-putting. Kind of undermines the later character building. Of the books I've read with this plot device, only two really worked for me and this is one of them. Somehow the lovers manage to redeem their initial stupidity and win the reader over completely.

Scarlett goes to Vegas to meet with producers interested in turning her children 's book series into a television show. Unfortunately she's greeted by another hopeful author and a demand that they both change their main characters and compete for the opportunity. In response to the disappointment and to her own straitlaced image, Scarlett retires to the bar at the Bellagio for a consoling drink. There she meets rock musician Gavin who, in addition to staging a comeback, has recently discovered he may have a child. Hijinks ensue.

Needless to say, what happens does not stay in Vegas, and Gavin plus his lawyer, Jack, show up on the steps of Scarlett's family ranch back in Texas. Shortly thereafter the plot segues into a fake marriage for the benefit of all, and the reader meets Scarlett's Aunt Honey, her father Floyd, and her take-no-prisoners lawyer Luanne. As Scarlett and Gavin slowly get to know each other, the reader also becomes acquainted with them and the family down on the farm.

Both Scarlett and Gavin have childhood abandonment issues to work out; she because Mommy had taken her trashy rep and run out on the family with a chance met man, he because his mom's druggy ways had ended with him being in the foster care system. And this is just the first layer of issues each has to deal with. I won't go into the rest because spoilers. Also there's so many plot twists that it all becomes a tad over the top. It is amusing however, often in a very visual way, as in a very funny water fight scene. I also have to give the author credit because she manages to be funny without humiliating any of her characters. I love wit and humor in my books, but not if it's based on humiliation or put downs of individual characters. Lucille Ball may have been brilliant, but I Love Lucy was a travesty. So, none of that here. Yay.

A lot happens in this book. There are side plots galore. However, if you're looking for the glam parts of a rockstar lifestyle or even the musical parts, don't look here, cuz that's not the focus. The novel is described as a rom com, and there is definitely humor but lots of feels as well. What really makes it work are the characters. Scarlett and Gavin are lovely and they grow so much in the course of this novel. I liked the chemistry and the level of steaminess. There's also a lot of self-discovery. The supporting cast is equally appealing and well drawn, right down to those who only make a brief appearance. Aunt Honey, Floyd, the dueling lawyers (who should get their own book), and even the nasty villain are all memorable characters. There is a great emphasis on family here, especially found or created family. The amount of heartwarming is kind of nuclear, but that's what makes a really great comfort read.

The one feature of this book that I did have a problem with was the amount of mom bashing in it. Not only do the protagonists have problem moms, so does the secret baby! If the point is that the family you build can be better than the one you're given, couldn't that point have been made without the bad parents all being mom?

I enjoyed this book and will be looking for more by this author. Hopefully she'll be kinder to the moms in future. I could definitely see myself rereading this, but I'll really be looking for Jack and Luanne's story.

Holy macaroni! I love this book. This story is sweet, fun, fast-paced, and HILARIOUS! I was laughing out loud from the beginning. Scarlett wakes up in a strange room with a strange man, and while she tries to remember why she's there, she discovers she married him. Oh, and he is a famous rock star. Scarlett is a self-repressed, closeted wild woman; Gavin is a bad-boy rock star on the outside, but on the inside he's a lonely man with a broken heart. These two are opposites at first glance, but as the story progresses, it's clear that they are perfect for each other.

The story is mostly character-driven, but there are so many things going on that there is plenty of action. Each time a new character was introduced, I laughed. Jack is a snarky, (seemingly) pompous lawyer, and Gavin's best friend. Luanne is a feisty, petite lawyer and Scarlett's best friend. Floyd is a hard-working, protective father. Poppy is a sociopathic villain with a penchant for blackmail and smiley faces. Scarlett's Aunt Honey is an eccentric, outspoken, one-woman laugh riot. Oh, Honey! She steals every scene she's in, and I love it!

I thoroughly enjoyed how Scarlett and Gavin went from scared, confused, and overwhelmed to happy and in love. This book is one that I have re-read over and over. It's so good that I laugh (and cry a little) every time.

I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Rock star and Prim proper Children's Author get hitched in Las Vegas.

This story weaves enough funny bits into this heartfelt story of finding your place in the world as your own person, not how others think you should be.

Spice: 🌶️🌶️ (there is not a lot of on screen action in this book, no kinks either)
Characters:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (believable and great character development)
Plot: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (great hooks)
Setting: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (good combination of locations all believable).

Would definitely recommend!

Note: if you have triggers with drug use, addiction and recovery all three are discussed in the book, or have triggers including abandonment (of children) or even car accidents (not discussed explicitly) please carefully consider this book before reading.

Scarlett and Gavin have very different backgrounds. He does not know love, not even family love. She grew up surrounded by love. Despite having an erratic mother, Scarltt became a good shoes, and too preoccupied with the opinion of her small gossip community. Waking up in Vegas with a huge hangover and married a tattooed guy has never gone through her wildest dreams! Running away from this reality and that crazy rocker seems to be her only alternative. Following their tryst, problems, fights, pursuits and mismatches, and also their enormous attraction turning into love and even to a family foundation is sooo much fun! The characters are very well designed, having several layers and to watch their love blossoming is very engaging. Super recommend reading!

Oh I don’t even know where to start! I loved this book so much. I really enjoyed the spin that Jami put on this rock star romance! It’s not your typical rockstar book, it’s so much more.

From the first chapter, I was drawn into Scarlett and Gavin’s story. Waking up hungover in bed and finding out your married to one of the most famous rockstars would be something. To say the least, Scarlett freaked out and naturally ran. The only problem was that Gavin wasn’t going to let her go so easily. He followed her back home and convinced her to stay married to him so that they could both mutually benefit from the arrangement. The only problem was that, neither of them intended to fall in love.

As this story unfolds, secrets are revealed that you won’t see coming. The romance is top notch and there are so many swoon worthy moments in this book. Gavin’s little boy (Aiden) will melt your heart and you won’t be able to resist Scarlett’s family, they are phenomenal. And the ending will have your heart melting. It is so beautiful. There is so much heart and depth to this novel. I cannot wait to read more of Jami’s books!

Wow, wow, wow ...
I nearly pee in my pants just with the opening scene.
The two main characters are wonderful, smart, kind, crazy in their own style.
Gavin is not only a rock star with a dark side due to his past, he can be a mischievous and good hearted man, while Scarlet fought her wild side all her life to be the perfect normal woman to not be compared to her mother.
But they have a pretty good group to take care of them, from the full of life and craziness Honey to straight in her boots Luanne and Jake.
This story shows that redemption is always possible, love is not buried what ever the past had been and the right path is not always the best way.
This novel will make you cry, laugh, shoot, pee (may be) and be sad when you will turn its last page.
