Executive Motherhood: The Art of Having It All Without Doing It All Kindle Edition

4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 17 ratings

What does it take to successfully combine a fulfilling career and a happy home?

If you’re a dynamo with kids in tow, Executive Motherhood has the answers.

Executive Motherhood provides a one-of-a-kind toolkit for women who want to upgrade both their professional ambitions and their family lives. Ashley Quinto Powell combines 20 years of experience as an entrepreneur and executive, 10 years of raising two stellar kids, and the satisfaction of being married to a very hunky husband to the inspiring stories, practical tips, and unparalleled advice contained within.

Executive Motherhood digs deep into:

  • Why we need women in the room—and at the top
  • How to have it all, without doing it all
  • The importance of a powerful network and how to build it
  • Moving beyond “imposter syndrome”
  • Salary negotiations and understanding your real value
  • Redefining “mom,” as a mother and as an employer
  • Sharing responsibilities, and successes, with your partner
  • And much, much more

The road to the top will definitely be bumpy, especially with babies on board, but Executive Motherhood is the best companion for the ride. If you loved Bossy Pants, Lean In, and The Confidence Code, this book is a must read!

As an executive, I read a lot of leadership books and most of them have either a sportsy-feel or a robot-army-feel. Executive Motherhood was so incredibly refreshing as it's real talk about the joys and complexities of navigating life as an executive and a mother while providing solid, practical advice. The style is along the lines of Bossypants by Tina Fey - funny, irreverent, honest, and authentic. I found myself reflecting on it long after I've read and it does something that's really hard to do - it shifted my perception, my mindset, and the way I experience myself. This will now be my go-to gift for executive mothers. Definitely recommend!

This is such a well planned and thought out book! Ashley is an absolute rockstar and having it all and championing other working moms, those who thought they could never have kids and keep their careers, and those who lead organizations. We need more women at the table. We also need more mothers in the discussion and making decisions. This was the fastest I’ve ever finished a self care book. Such a quick, easy, and powerful read! Highly recommend to EVERYONE who works!

Finally the raw truth for us women who love working, who love our kids, and who are standing up to the harmful cultural messages that continue to infiltrate the air we breathe, the workspaces, the playground chatter, the media - everywhere. Ashley Quinto Powell is bold, brilliant, and a burst of the energy we need right now in the discussion - and change needed - for women, motherhood, and our own brilliance.

I was able to read this book over the weekend, and the insights shared were real, valuable and practical. Ashley directly addressed most of the issues I deal with as an executive mom, and her insights made me feel both validated and motivated to make some changes at the same time. Thank you Ashley for such a valuable read! "Get up there, peanut." :)

I have a one-year-old and have spent the last year navigating motherhood, working full time, and pursuing a masters degree. This book was a perfect reminder that I am not alone and that it's ok to want it all. Ashley has a funny way of describing her life and opinions, and listening to her narrate the audiobook was an added bonus. While the title of this book may push non-mothers away, I think it's an inspiring perspective for anyone who works.
