Skyler Ramirez writes science fiction and fantasy that entertains, thrills, uplifts, and inspires. His books contain surprising plot twists that keep you guessing, exciting universes that fuel the imagination, and thought-provoking drama that keeps you coming back for more. But at the end of the day, all of his writing centers around one theme: how relatively ordinary men and women can do extraordinary things. As a student of history, he believes this to be true and loves exploring the motivations, deeply held beliefs, and dreams of his characters.

Skyler writes books that adults will enjoy but that he wouldn’t be embarrassed or worried for his teenage children to read. He feels that great stories don’t need foul language, graphic scenes, or other window dressing to make them exciting. A good story stands on its own.

Mr. Ramirez lives with his wife, Lindsey, and their four children in Texas. When he is not writing, he has been and continues to be a leader and executive with multiple Fortune 500 and Fortune 1000 companies.

This smaller book has solid world building and lovable characters. The past is explained efficiently without too much memory monologing, and the future is left open and inviting the reader for more. There's some good humor mixed into the more serious topics, and I enjoyed the whole thing.

I was reluctant to read but it grabbed my attention very quickly. Definitely a good, fun, fast paced read. Not a lot of filler. The main characters had great back stories. For being the first book in the series Skyler did a great job of encouraging further reading. Thanks.

This kindle e-book novella is from my Kindle Unlimited account book 1 of 6

Another will written short story with interesting will developed characters lots of action, misdirection, and some violence leading to the unexpected conclusion.

I would recommend this series and author to readers of fantasy space opera novels. 2024

Ok it is trying to build a whole universe and get you to car about people but feels like a setup for next book. It’s short.

This is a very entertaining introduction to the Dumb Luck and Dead Heroes series. The protagonist is realistic and likeable even as he confronts (and at times, nearly consumed by) his past mistakes. None the less, he still has a conscience and morals, thankfully. There is danger and huge decisions to be faced by the Captain and the ship's troubled crew which kept me reading from beginning to end. Now I must get book 2, enjoy!

This space opera was wriiten as one of those Kindlevellas, which makes it sort of a serial, an on going saga without a planned ending. One adventure leads to the next, with plot and character being developed as we go along.

I like Mendoza. A good guy that bad things have happened to. He can deal with the bad things, it's the guilt he can't handle.

He gets put in command of "the worst ship in the fleet" as a punishment and a way to get rid of him.

He doesn't last a week. Which brings us to the dead heroes part.

It was a short, fun story. Parts of it were rough, and retribution might have to wait, but I expect we will see it.

Will I read more? Yeah, probably so.

Cheers! Read every day and read for fun!

This has a fascinating premise, but so much of the story has of pacing and not very interesting. It was short and so I finished it. The ending was a great setup for more.

The ending is masterful. I couldn't pit it down, read

5.0 out of 5 stars Really good! Well written.

I've been an avid reader my entire adult life, since the 70s. In this day of self-publishing, there's a lot of bad writing out there now that in the past never would have made it to the press. A reader often has to wade through a lot of badly written slop before finding someone who can actually write well. So I'm very happy to have recently discovered Mr. Ramirez. He knows how to write and he delivers on the promise of his titles. It's light-hearted escapism, and very, very funny. And his writing skill is excellent, a pleasure to read. I will be reading the rest of the series.

I picked up this series while looking for something new and couldn't put it down again. I absolutely love the science in the world it throws out the sci-fi tropes when it comes to science. Like any good action story you know the two main characters will survive, but that doesn't mean they'll survive well. The heroes are imperfect and their flaws are on full display, for good and for bad

Not entirely sure why I picked up this book. Upto 59% it’s pure nonsense after which I skipped and went to rating the book.
