Being a Brave Soldier!!
There are so many things in our society that make us fearful. Kell's book show us how to be a brave soldier through stories and God's Word. I truly enjoyed this book and I always enjoy Kelly's Tuesday afternoon Bible studies at the Lamb Center.

A few months ago, if you had asked me to describe myself using 50 adjectives, the word ‘brave’ would certainly not have made the list. I greatly admire brave people I read about, and have some very brave family members and friends in my life, but me…brave? Nah. I was fortunate enough, however, to read Being Brave by Kelly Johnson, and soon realized that God not only wants me to be brave, He actually CREATED me to be brave, fully equipping me if only I said ‘yes’ to Him The author explains what being brave entails, sharing Scripture and anecdotes which reinforce her message beautifully. Johnson has an engaging writing style; she’s candid, genuine and pretty darn funny at times.

This is what I consider to be a hearty devotional. Others I have read tend to be a bit “light” in content but not this one. Each day’s reading has the perfect amount of thought-provoking material, with plenty of Scripture and opportunities for self-reflection woven in.

Inspired by the message in this book, I took a giant step forward in an area of my life where I had been hesitant, and faithfully put myself out there. It required every last one of the characteristics of bravery that the author taught of, but with it came a sense of freedom and tremendous growth. I now find myself reflecting on other areas of my life where I can utilize my newly launched ‘being brave’ skills!

Highly recommend this book for all ages and stages.

The solid presence of a trusted friend inspires bravery where we once felt fear. When someone offers to stand beside us as we face our fears, we can do more than we thought we could. This is exactly what Kelly Johnson does in her forty-day devotional, Being Brave: A 40-Day Journey to the Life God Dreams for You. She reaches out a hand and invites us to be brave.

The book contains six sections containing short chapters making it the ideal length for busy women. At the end of each chapter, Kelly poses probing and insightful questions to help the reader apply the truths found in Scripture. Kelly shares anecdotal stories from her own life as well as excerpts from Christ's last days with his disciples. Being Brave is the perfect companion to begin the year or to follow during the Lenten season.

For anyone feeling overcome by limitations and fear, Kelly Johnson names us brave and gives us the tools to step into our fullest potential. Kelly’s words are wise, insightful, and relatable. The questions in each chapter help get beyond the surface to the root of fear. I learned so much about myself and even more about God’s love for me.

Honest, funny, challenging, practical, loving---this set of devotions is amazing! This book strikes just the right balance of faith-filled inspiration and a call to real life action. I found great value in its emphasis on every day life--the funny, the sad, and the daily grind moments. The devotions meet us where we are and challenge us to go further, be more, and love more deeply!

I loved the breadth of the discussions, the special moments it highlights, and its resonance with a busy life. It's a joy to read but it also doesn't let the reader off easily - there are thoughtful questions to ponder and a positive message of reaching for all that God wants each of us to be.

    Inspiring, invigorating, inviting, and encouraging!
I've followed Kelly's blog for a while and am delighted that she now has provided us with this 40 day devotional guide!

Oh friends, you must have a copy of this awe inspiring book. As each of us determines to step out of our comfort zones to do what God has intended for us Kelly's book will afford the words you need and scripture that will enable you. Each of the 40 days will give you the assurance that you can tackle this world and do so despite your hesitations or misgivings. I have a problem saying "no" when opportunities present themselves. In Day 35 I loved what she said, "When I am seeking God's presence regularly in prayer, I gain clarity in the ways I am called to engage in the world." Later she says, "...as I seek to do my part, I am also learning to check in regularly with God and the goals I have identified as priorities so I am not spreading myself too thin or eating time on efforts better left to others more suited to the task." These words spoke clearly to my heart. The entire book offers pearls of wisdom that I felt were written just for me. I am sure you'll find those words and scriptures just as compelling.

Im still in the process of finishing this book, but it has helped. Its not as much of a call to action as some of my other devotional. But the questions are thought peovoking and necessary for growth.
