You could use scotchlok connectors if you're lazy but I think those look sloppy.
I'm very happy with this easy-install controller. If I'm slowing or stopped and see somebody coming up behind me, I tap the brake pedal. Each strobe sequence of four fast/four slow take about two seconds. Remember, you must have an LED light for this controller to work.
I credit this thing with helping me out today. Heading home this morning I had a guy following way too close and inching closer and I was coming up on my turn. I flipped my blinker on and started to break knowing that he would see the little strobing, flashing and steady on light show hoping it would bring him back to reality and it did. He slowed and backed off and I was able to safely make my turn.
Original review: I was rear ended once while waiting at a traffic light by someone who had zoned out behind me. I saw them coming, but there was little I could do other than repeated press the brake pedal. That didn’t keep my head from smashing out the rear window in my little truck. I like to think that if I had this it might have done a better job of getting the drivers attention. I’ll never know, and hopefully, now that I’ve installed this, I’ll will still never know.
Do you remember when all cars had only two tail lights? I do. Then one day adding a third brake light to your car became a novelty and some car makers started doing it. Why? Because having that third brake light made you more visible to the vehicle behind you. People expected two lights. Add a third and people took notice. It was a very effective safety feature. It soon became a requirement for all cars to have that third brake light. A few years later, and it was all for nothing. That third light had become blase and was no more effective than just having two. People had gotten used to three brake lights. Now what?
Introduce this gizmo. It’s nothing new and there are a myriad of different designs and styles. Some with more functions and some with less, but they all do one thing. That is to make your car more visible to the traffic behind you. I just bought a new car and before it was even in my possession I ordered this guy. I was a little concerned about the install seeings how many people had different colored wires, some just plain installed it wrong and some said it didn’t work or quickly failed, but I gave it a shot.
The install took about thirty minutes. Pull open the lining in the trunk to expose the wires, cut the wires, strip the wires, solder everything back together with the Podoy in the circuit, seal each solder up with shrink tubing, tuck the wires in, reattach the trunk lining and done. I was fortunate as the wires for my brake light were red and black just like the strobe. No way to make a mistake. In connects to the incoming power source and out connects to the light. Easy peasy.
I press the brake pedal and I am rewarded with some strobing, flashing and ending with solid on. At seven bucks this was the cheapest upgrade I’ve ever done to a vehicle. I definitely feel it makes me safer on the road, but with an additional benefit. It looks cool too.
Tip: get yourself quality crimp connectors and a tool to crimp the connectors. I don’t know about you, but I want to do it right the first time and never have to go back and fix it later.

After using it for a few months, I've noticed people in traffic up on my bumper are surprised by it and notice quickly when I need to brake. This is great for getting attention of drivers behind you - exactly what it's intended to do. If I were a moto rider, I would definitely look at something like this. Quit driving like you own the road and just let people where they need to go - even if they make that last second bonehead maneuver.
Obviously.....don't install these for every one of your brake lights. It's good to have the one in the middle flash a few times, but you want instant on and constant on for other lights. Make sure you have solid connections and protect them after making the connections. It's easy to strip the wires, add a little flux and solder, and then wrap them up (a bad ground connection will definitely cause issues / failure). The better the connections, the more likely this will last longer than your truck / bike / whatever you are using it for.
