Five years ago, I nearly lost everything. But there was a glimmer of hope on that darkest night. There was him—a stranger I could never forget.

Now, I’m finally getting the fresh start I’ve longed for. But when I show up to interview for a nanny position in the small mountain town, the single dad has startlingly familiar blue eyes.

Eyes that have haunted my dreams for the past five years.

Lawson Hartley is everything I know I can’t have. Older, handsome, and my boss. Not to mention the shadows in his eyes that tell me he has demons, too.

Still, he seems to understand me better than anyone I’ve ever met. So gentle and careful of my scars, yet somehow making me believe I’m stronger than I ever thought possible.

And when his lips touch mine, I’m lost.

We find what we've been missing in each other. But the terrors of my past aren’t done with me yet, and this time, Lawson might not be able to save me...

Rating: (5/5)  Spice: (2.5/5)  Audio Rating: (4.5/5)     Tropes:   Single Dad x Nanny  Close Proximity  Age Gap (13 years)  Slow Burn  Found Family  Romantic Suspense    Vibes:   What a wrap! This final book tops the series. This author ended it with my favorite trope! Hallie is everything I wanted her to be for our favorite single dad - Lawson Hartley. Brave, kind, understanding, sweet - she's absolutely precious! Lawson deserved to have love like her. I knew the suspense would wreck me - which it did. Not so surprisingly, my favorite side character is Charlie. That kid melts me with every single line. Drew added much needed comic relief (Thanks, Bruh). AND Luke - feeling all the emotions and caught in the quicksand of toxic relationships. Lawson's attraction and protectiveness is unmatched. Despite feeling inadequate and guilty, he found his way towards happily ever after. I'm in love with the whole Hartley family and need everyone to read this series if you can handle the tw.    Audio Notes:   Dual narration. Excellent performance! Both narrators were clear and easy on the ears. There were only a few moments that I was pulled out of the story. The female voice was smooth and sweet - definitely giving off Hallie-vibes. The male voice's grit lent paired well with Lawson's character, especially in moments of heightened emotions. I would definitely recommend this audiobook to listeners of romantic suspense.     Recommended to...  all readers of romantic suspense - the whole series is a solid - must read!

I loved this book. Like I couldn’t put it down, ignored my laundry and read all day, loved this book. It’s among my favorite books of the year. From the very beginning I was hooked on Lawson and Hallie’s story. I was anxiously awaiting this nanny romance for Lawson, the protective brother and father of three boys after reading the first four books in then series. This book did not disappoint! Catherine Cowles crafts suspense and romance so carefully that the intertwining of stories and unfolding of events is effortless and totally compelling. The slow burn is well paced and while i love a good steamy scene, I need to feel the connection between characters. When Hallie and Lawson finally have their first moment, I was completely invested in their love story. Do I have a few nit picky thoughts and one or two word choices I didn’t love? Yes. But the whole of this suspense was so good that I glanced over these things easily and happily fell in love with Lawson, Hallie and the whole family. As a mother of four boys, I also loved how the kids were written, how their characters were additive to the story and not just a fluffy bit on the side. Luke’s character was especially well written.

Lawson is a single dad of three boys, ranging from 6 to 16ish and as the chief of police, is in need of help with his family’s busy schedule. Hallie is looking to take back control over her life after a traumatic kidnapping as a young woman and returns to the town where she lost it in search of a new job and a fresh start. Naturally good with kids but skittish around strangers, crowds and men, Hallie discovers her potential new boss has a connection to her past. It’s this shared history that is the foundation of Hallie and Lawson’s love story and also the source of suspense as a series of similar kidnappings begin again in the small town. This is a slow burn, suspense-filled beauty of a romance and I inhaled it. I loved the romance, the suspense, the connection and the family. So so good. Highly recommended! 2 peppers, 5 stars.

Catherine Cowles has a way of writing amazing stories about families. It was beyond sweet to see Hallie find her place among Law's kids and family. She grew so bright and happy and became the version of herself that she always wanted after everything she endured. This was a beautiful story about overcoming all obstacles and finding one's place in the world and finding love when you need it the most. I loved Law's kids. They were an absolute hoot and such a delight to read about. I enjoyed seeing Hallie and Law's find all of the love and support they were looking for in each other. Soooo sweet. This book also touched on trauma and some tough topics. I don't believe there are trigger warnings at the beginning of the book, but please tread lightly if you have any triggers.

Overall, this book filled my heart with joy and happiness. It did have heavy and serious moments throughout, but it was handled beautifully. I definitely recommend picking up this book!

The number of times I have started to write something and then delete is crazy. Here is the main point of everything, I LOVED THIS BOOK and yes that much that it is in all caps. I don’t know what Catherine adds to her stories, but I am here for each and every word and any additional she wants to throw in for extra measure.

What you need to know is, Hallie is amazing. She is strong and resilient and kind and loving and gentle and then throw in her beauty you get the point. The fact that is picked herself up and moved on after 5 years will astound you as well, just trust me. When she takes the job as Lawson’s nanny, she has no idea what she is in for. From the oldest being standoffish, to the middle charmer and his use of bruh to sweet and innocent youngest who is still sure he wants to marry his best friend Cady when they are older. But there is something special about the connection Lawson has to Hallie and it is truly beautiful. Also have to mention that once she gets through that hard shell Luke has, the protective nature he has shines through. This kid is his father in so many ways that he makes you smile and breaks your heart at the same time.

I don’t want to talk about anything else because this is a book that you just need to read. You need to take time and devour the entire series as they are all about the Hartley siblings and each story will draw you further in and then you catapult to this last book, and you realize that you aren’t sure what to do next. Each book has suspense, and family as well as found family and love. You feel the love seeping from the pages as they wrap you up in the words.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect book to end this series!

I can’t believe the Lost and Found series is now over but Ashes of You is an incredible and perfect last book!!! Five years ago Lawson saved Hallie after going through something truly horrific. Now she’s looking for a fresh start and ends up interviewing to be Lawson’s nanny. As Hallie takes care of his boys and spends time with Lawson they grow closer they both start to fall in love. Meanwhile someone from the past might be back and is threatening their happiness.
Lawson and Hallie completely stole my heart!! I love how their relationship develops and they are perfect for each other. Hallie has been through so much and she’s so strong and determined to make a life for herself. Lawson is such a great dad and also loves his job as chief of police but he doesn’t have any time for himself. These two provide what each other needs and I adore how they support each other in reaching for what they want.
Lawson’s boys; Charlie, Drew, and Luke definitely add to my enjoyment of this book. They are all amazing and I love the bond each of them build with Hallie. This book has a lot of healing and I think the Hartley boys and Hallie make such a beautiful family.
Then there’s the suspense element that is so well done. What happens is horrible and creepy and sad but I enjoyed following along with the investigation. Just like with most of this author’s books I didn’t see the twist coming so it was shocking to say the least.

In this fabulous romance you’ll find:
🩵 age gap (13 years)
🩵 single dad x nanny
🩵 forced proximity
🩵 spice
🩵 slow burn
🩵 found family
🩵 small town
🩵 touch her and d!e vibes
🩵 serial unaliver

I will miss all the Hartleys so much now that this series has ended!

This was a great story. It kept me riveted from the first chapter. The story tells of Hallie and the ordeal she suffered at the hands of a madman and how her saviour, Lawson, was there for her. I just loved reading about Hallie and Lawson and his three boys beat adversity and came out the other side. I love Catherine Cowles books, this one is well worth the read.

I was so excited to see this land on my kindle!! I was lucky in being late to the party on this series so I had been able to binge one after the other without having to wait so I’ve been dying to read about Lawson!!!!

Lawson our MMC is the towns chief of police, he’s a single dad to 3 boys and he feels like no matter how hard he tries he’s failing his boys at every turn especially his 16 year old who seems to have turned into himself the last year and barely speaks to anyone.

Our FMC Hallie is starting fresh, she’s moving back to the town that almost destroyed her, she has a new job as a nanny and she refuses to let fear keep her prisoner. She didn’t know her new boss was going to be the same cop who saved her life from a madman 5 years ago.

I loved Lawson and Hallie’s relationship, we have age gap (10 years), boss/employee, single dad, kidnapped survivor/hero, oh let’s not forget the man who kidnapped Hallie 5 years ago was never caught and women are still going missing as Lawson desperately tries to solve the case and protect his heart.

There was so much drama in this book, emotion and trauma, the relationship between Hallie and Lawsons 3 boys was so sweet and nurturing, when the reveal of the whodunnit finally hit, I definitely had an ‘I knew it moment’ not because it was obvious but I saw the breadcrumbs left in the book!!
The suspense in this book was 1st class.

I loved everything about this series, the strong characters, the strength of emotions and storylines, one of my absolute favourite series.

If you haven’t read any or these are on your TBR dive in. You will not be disappointed! I finished this book in 4 hours it was so addictive I couldn’t put it down!

5.0 out of 5 stars romance and suspense together never looked so good

After so long I read a book that is plot driven. I was hooked from the first chapter and my love for each and every character only grew chapter by chapter.

I was proud of me for getting it right in terms of suspense but how it was woven together was in perfection measurement.

Lawson is trying to take care of his three boys while also working as the chief of police of this town.

Hallie is trying to start fresh, what happens with her 5 years ago, has left scars but she is trying to be strong.

It’s fate that she lands up in the house of the man who saved her all those years ago but now as a possible pick for the nanny.

All three sons of Lawson stole my heart. I loved how each of them had a different personality but it all complimented each other.

The found family vibes were strong throughout and this book tore me up on more than one occasions. The suspense/ thriller part of it mixing it with the trauma of Hallie, I feel that the story was complete and perfect.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, heartfelt story
Reviewed in Australia on February 17, 2024
I started reading Ashes of You in the afternoon and then stayed up late so I could keep reading, I didn’t want to put it down. I was 100% invested in this story!

The characters and relationships in this story were so amazing. I loved Lawson, his boys and his family and Hallie is an absolute sweetheart.

The portrayal of 3 different boys at different ages was written so well especially all of the teenage angst. As someone who has suffered from PTSD and severe anxiety myself in the past I really appreciated the realistic portrayal of Hallie’s PTSD and anxiety. It was both confronting and comforting at the same time.

This was truly such a beautifully heartfelt story. I love how this author can have you smiling and laughing 1 minute and then sobbing the next. I’ve read and loved all of the books in this series. Each story is a standalone and you don’t necessarily have to read them in order, but the relationships and friendships carry through each book so you’d get a better understanding if you started with book 1. Each book is amazing so it’s absolutely worth reading them all.

The tropes for this book are -
💕 Small romance
💕 Single dad
💕 Age gap
💕 Suspense - a mystery to solve
💕 Overcoming a traumatic past
💕 Nanny and Boss
💕 Stand-alone in a linked series

I loved, loved, loved this story and it was easily a 5 star read.
