the world would be a better (albeit more expensive) place
If everyone but prismacolor stopped making colored pencils, the world would be a better (albeit more expensive) place. These are VERY smooth colored pencils. Like colorful butter on paper. And they are by FAR the best watercolor pencils I've ever used. They are so water soluble, you can't even see the pencil strokes when you are done. It looks like a painting; not a colored pencil, slightly painted mess. They blend incredibly well, both wet and dry, and if you are an adult coloring enthusiast, gradient effects are VERY easy to achieve by just running a little color along one edge of your section, then using a wet paintbrush to draw the color across. You can also use the shavings to paint with; just dip a wet paint brush in the shaved off lead and you have a more traditional watercolor look AND you save waste! They match seamlessly with the regular Prismacolor colored pencils and markers, so you can have a variety of effects in your coloring and not get bored.Since you'll be adding water to your coloring pages, I suggest you put a piece of paper between the page you are working on and the one behind it; sometimes it can bleed through and ruin the page behind it.As always with Prismacolor colored pencils, these are incredibly soft. Care needs to be taken when sharpening or you will break a lot of lead and say a lot of words that will embarrass your grandma. I like a regular, no frills, Sanford sharpener. I find the fancier ones tend to break the lead more often and dull a lot faster. Best to keep it simple in my experience.

I haven't used watercolor pencils before, so I cannot compare these to other brands. These are nice and soft. They function well as both a colored pencil and a watercolor pencil. Your brush cannot be too dry or it won't melt the pencil. Colors are good. It was a good set for me to tray.

WHERE HAVE THESE BEEN ALL MY LIFE?

I've always used Prisma Scholars or Prisma Soft Core, and so when I found these Prisma Watercolors to use for Adult Coloring Books (judge away!), I was all 'that's perfect!'.
Yes. Yes they are!! Blending is a breeze, and unlike soft core I'm not constantly breaking them. They're comfortable to hold, and have great coverage. I colored an entire picture using 6-7 different colors straight from the box, and haven't needed to sharpen any but one yet. They've got strong pigment, so using a light hand is far easier than with the soft core version. Unlike the Scholar ones, they don't cause a harsh thin line on our paper, and stay kind of blunt, causing a softer more blended look.
It suggests that you can use water and a brush to blend, which I have not had the opportunity to do yet. I am greatly looking forward to doing so, especially beyond coloring books. I'm not fond of water color paints, as they don't usually give me the effect I want. However, I feel like with these Prismacolor pencils, I stand a chance of creating the watercolor creations I've been dying to make. I look forward to trying them on Gesso boards and art boards.
They come in a tin box, with a division as the picture shows. I would recommend a Prisma sharpener, or a sharpener meant specifically for watercolor pencils to extend the life of them. With all of my Prismas and expensive/good quality pencils I use specific sharpeners, as you'd be surprised how much more life you get out of them over that of a dollar store or even regular #2 pencil sharpener!

I am in love with these Prismacolor Watercolor Pencils! At 24 colors, there is just enough variety. They come in two plastic trays in a very nice metal case - I take the plastic trays out when I use them. They color beautifully dry or wet and blend nicely when wet. I chose this set because of all the positive reviews on Amazon and I am very happy that I did. They seem well made - the tips don't break like my Staedtler water color pencils do. I feel the quality of the Prismacolor Watercolor Pencils is superior in every way to the Staedtler ones. I love using them and recommend them highly. Excellent value.

This set of Prismacolor Watercolor Pencils is adequate for most beginning or intermediate level clear or rubber stampers. The colors go on smoothly, blend well, and with an Aquabrush, water brush, or blender pen (Stampin' Up!), the images turn out well. I have used them on smooth paper, layering weight paper and watercolor paper, and had the best results with watercolor paper, although they work fairly well on other papers, too. I rated it less than five stars only because one of the pencils had a tip broken in shipping.

Absolutely love these pencils. I am a crafter and i do illustrated faith as well. I use these mostly in my Bible when in meditation with the Lord. I use them directly on the thin pages without water, and on inserted Label paper with water for watercolor effects. I use avery white full sheet labels and cut them down to size then stick them directly to the page. When using the pencils for watercolor on the labels i do not need gesso or primer. There is no bleed through or wrinkling of pages. I love these pigments, so vibrant and true. Using them as pencils are beautiful but when activated with water the color pigments jump off the page.

These pencils are the real deal and were a steal at $9.99! They work great for my three children (3, 6 and 8) for their journals, artwork, etc. They are much smoother and have a more rich color than cheap pencils. All the colors needed are in the box too. The tin is nice for storage with two trays that hold the pencils in place. I'd definitely buy these again. Get a good sharpener too so you don't wear down the pencils.
