THERE’S ONLY AFTER
A Hurricane Hearts Novel
BOOK 1

Two lives shattered by suicide.
Two men searching for hope.

Jackson
Andrew was my life. My husband. My reason for breathing.
“Time of death eleven-forty-nine p.m.”
I will never be whole again.
Andrew doesn’t wake up.
And I can’t let him go.

A past filled with secrets, lies, and unimaginable trauma.

Lawson
Brandon was more than my brother; he was my best friend.
“You did everything you could.”
I was told that sometime soon, my memories of that night would return.
They did, with a vengeance, three nights later in the form of an horrific nightmare that taunted me with visions of my brother’s lifeless body and pale blue lips.

What if there’s no happy ever after?
What if there’s only after?

Infinity tear-ridden stars! Phenomenal read!
Infinity stars!!! Top 3 reds of the YEAR!!! This is a book that I am left in a puddle, left going what do I do with myself now. I'm completely and utterly consumed with this world, Lawson and Jackson. I feel like this is gonna be hard to sum up in a review. Just know this book has my whole heart currently.Okay I am gonna start out by saying I love, like love, love Julie's books. Love and Tryst have been some top reads for me for this year as well. So I was beyond stoked when I heard she had a new release coming. I dropped everything and started it. And wowwwwww I am so glad I did. It did not disappoint. It actually blew me even more away by how dang amazing this story truly is.So this one involves a lot of grief and loss. Suicide. Cancer. Child abuse. Everything that breaks your heart and disturbs you to a certain degree. This book is about life after loss. Is there life after loss. What does it look like. How can you cope. How do you heal. Not just you but everyone that was effected by said person. It's beyond tragic. It is emotional, raw, and everything that just breaks your heart. But at it's core it is finding love, finding the happy side of things. It's not an easy journey. But it is a beautiful journey in the end. Just gotta get through all the tough, and not so pretty parts. But it is so worth all the turmoil and tears. I even had tears, and that does not happen for me often in books.Jackson is top notch. Absolutely fell for him instantly. What he is dealing with is insurmountable tragedy. It broke me wide open. He has a hard time dealing and turns to not so smart things. But it is what he needs to cope. He distances himself form his friends. But one day he goes to group counseling and meets a stranger that is dealing with loss of a loved one as well. And this is where this relationship stems from. Builds up off of grief and healing. It is done so spectacularly, in my opinion. You feel all the raw pieces of these men. Lawson is that sweet home grown boy. Dealing with something so tragic as well. Gahhhhh it guts me to think about. He blames himself. Heck they both do. He struggles to get past. He is trying for his parents. But sometimes ya want to fall to pieces. He just holds strong and is such a light in the darkness for Jack. I gotta say Law's parents I absolutely loved a bunch, wow i cried for them in so many spots.Andrew, all I will say to not spoil is I want to wrap you up and give you a HUGE hug.I could go on and on. Just know you'll need tissues right out the gate with this read and it doesn't let up. There is some spice but very minimal. It is not that type of story. It s a slow burn at the umpth degree. Check TWs with all Julie books but wow if you dive in just enjoy the tragedy and all the rawness of feelings. And added bonus if you've read Tryst and Love you'll see some characters come back. And fall for so many new ones.I am SO excited for more from the world of Hurricane Hills. SO many of these side characters captivated me.

I liked a lot of things about this book including Lawson and Jackson's relationship. I loved how they were there for each other and helped each other heal in the tragedies left behind by the deaths of their loved ones.
I didn't give it five stars because there were several scenes that felt unnecessary and there were many points of view. Id the story was trimmed down and stuck to a few POVs, it would be five stars. Still, a good read!

This was an M/M romance like none other I have ever read. It is about Jackson Davidson, 28yo husband of Andrew Covington who committed suicide and Lawson Shore, 35yo whose brother and best friend, Brandon took his own life. Jackson and Lawson meet at a counseling event and slowly become friends and then more. Rightful and deserved ending for Jack and Law.
It is a tribute to Ms. Addicott’s writing that I could continue reading after chapter 4. Very painful. If you need your tear ducts flushed, this is the book to read! The author states that she did research regarding suicide and near-misses. If accurate, I honestly think this should be required reading for Psychology majors who hope to go into counseling. There is one moment when Drew is dying and he wants to reverse it, but it is too late, that broke my heart. I am crying right now just remembering that scene. In her research did Ms. Addicott find that this might happen? By chapter 30 there will be the added element of intrigue.
During this poignant story we also meet many other great characters whom I hope we meet later in this Hurricane Hills series. The author has stipulated that some scenes may be difficult. Believe her! Beyond the advice I still believe this is one of the best books of its kind that I have read this year. I volunteered to review an ARC of it through Gay Romance Reviews. I would give it more than 5 stars if I could.

This book touches on some heavy topics so be prepared. That being said this book hit and missed quite a bit. The first 1/4 was really good then it kinda stretched on with no real depth until the last 1/4. I found myself skimming constantly through this book. The connection was missing between the two leads as well. It had great potential but didn’t hit the mark and I’ve never seen grown men ever as much as they did in this book. Not trying to say men don't have emotions it was just to much and over everything. Unrealistic nobody cry’s that much! Obviously there will be more books because there are lots of side plots with other characters. Doubt I’ll read them.

Wow. What a journey. While this was by no means an easy read, it is an amazing, emotional story.

Jackson loses his husband and Lawson loses his brother to suicide. It's what comes After that leads these to men to each other.

Their grief and healing took me on a journey where I was cheering them on for their wins and concerned for the unwise and reckless decisions they would make.

There is so much pain and heartbreak but there is also friendship and hope. It is beautifully written in a way that makes you feel everything right along with Jackson and Law.

I kinda bought this book on a whim and it's one of the best books I've read this year.

Please, please read the trigger warnings.
