About the Author

After almost suffering a widowmaker heart attack at the relatively young age of 42, author Jeff Janssen sought answers to Life’s Biggest Questions like: who am I, why are we here, and what happens to us when we die? His way too close brush with death put him on a serious quest to discover solid and soul-satisfying answers. Jeff’s research led him to the stories of Near-Death Experiences (NDEs). After studying over 3,500 NDE accounts, Jeff synthesized their findings into the 10 Life-Changing Lessons from Heaven so that he and others could benefit from their profound wisdom. Because learning about the Life Review had such a profound impact on his life, he then wrote Your Life’s Ripple Effect. Jeff also has written a book for kids who have lost a loved one called What You’ll Learn in Heaven. The Near Death Experience (NDE) is assurance that we are not our bodies in a way like no other. For those who have had an NDE, they no longer believe that we survive bodily death, they know. For those of us who have studied them extensively, we know as well.

NDEs are each unique but have some common lessons. The author, Jeff Janssen has studied thousands of NDE and distilled them into 10 universal lessons that he teaches in a previous book. This book has all of those lessons integrated into a beautifully told and illustrated story that a child can digest. It answers all of the questions a child has about death in a non-threatening way. It will also bring comfort to the adults who will read this book to children or gift it to a child they know.

The illustrations are gorgeous and the story reminds us that death doesn't always come when we expect it. I write this review just after the mass shooting of mostly elderly people in Buffalo, NY and the mass murder of children in Ulvade, TX. Both of these incidents have us reeling, young and old. Children have questions about what happened to those babies in Texas. This is a way of putting their minds at ease.

Death is a hard topic to write and read about, especially in a way that brings hope and adds positivity to an otherwise grim topic. Jeff Janssen manages to do this and makes it easy and understandable to read for all ages.
There are not many options available to teach kids about what happens to us when we die. This book fills that void. And it’s a great book to read along with your children/teens. By focusing on a story of a child that had a near death experience, the reader gets a glimpse of what awaits everyone when our time comes to move to heaven. Highly recommend for all ages!

This book offers so much comfort because it answers the questions about what happens after you die. The author has done his research and shares insight of what heaven feels like to the person who died, told in story form from a child’s perspective. Knowing that your loved one is in the most wonderful place being loved and cared for is a gift to those who are still living.

This wonderful story can help bring comfort and a little peace at what can be a difficult time in someone's life. Easy reading and storyline for children to follow, but also easy for someone in the thick of "grief brain" to get through as well. There are not a lot of options for children dealing with grief, but this should be at the top of the list!
