Both pads peeled or separated.

Both pads peeled or separated.
Pads installed for less than a month are peeling apart. Not peeling from the tank but the layers of the pads failed. They sent new pads immediately. I replaced them (getting the old pads off is not a good time) and sealed the edges with a good urethane sealer/adhesive. Fingers crossed. The company was very easy to work with and responsive.

I'm using it, not quite what it was advertised for. But it seems to be working real well. Keeping my lithium batteries from freezing in my motorhome.

I ordered these (2) heating pads after watching a Youtube video regarding keeping LiFePo batteries above freezing, as this is required of these batteries. I bought 2 of these heading pads, and have installed 1 of them directly to the side of my 4x100Ah battery bank (using the adhesive backing to attach them directly to the sides of the battery. Even though the pads come with a thermostat that turns them on when temps dip below 40F, I installed the pads through a temperature controlled relay (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09531FDPN?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details). So far, the temperature within my RV has dipped below 20 degrees, and the batteries have remained at about 38 degrees. The heating pad is drawing about 70 watts when it is activated. If the 1 heating pad is not enough to keep the bank above freezing, I will connect the 2nd pad to the opposite side of the battery bank (then will draw 140 watts). Trying to avoid running down my battery bank, in the process of keeping it alive. So far, the heating pads have worked well. I hope to give another followup in the Spring.

I ordered the two pad set of 7x25” pads. Before installing I checked that the thermistors turned on and off. However, after installing, one pad didn’t heat at all, verified by zero current draw, and the other pad’s wattage fluctuated wildly between zero and c. 65 watts, and did not provide any appreciable heat. I’m swapping both pads out for another set to see if my luck improves, but am not looking forward to scraping the old ones off, and finding a baggie to put the bits and pieces in so that they can be returned as per Amazon’s request.

Update: before returning the heater pads, I heard that it’s possible to remove the embedded thermostats, and connect the wires, so that the thermostat is totally bypassed. This I did, and now, with an external controller, the pads work perfectly, drawing 65 W each.

This item was used in a Class C motorhome with batteries located under the stairs, which are in an heated area. The heat pad was tested in an exterior temperature of 33 degrees F and kept the batteries at a constant 57 degrees F. WARNING: The sticky side is extremely sticky and I recommend peeling off the protective covering only a few inches at a time as you adhere it. Once it is on, it is on! I recommend this item.

Looks like they should be great. Need 68° ambient temperature to attach them to tank. I will edit review after it warms up enough to install them.
Reviewed in the United States on January 3, 2020
Very much recommended for campers without heated tanks. We also got a set for the front steps which get very slick when there is any snow/ice. They are on a thermostat which kicks on around 40 degrees F. I wired 8 of them in to an 80A relay on a 40A fuse in parallel. Combined consumption is around 36A when all are on. You MUST do this in parallel with the correct relay and fuse to protect yourself and property. Pulling too much power through the tiny 20 gauge wire from the master switch will get very hot if not done correctly. Be sure to use around 12 gauge wire to and from the relay to stay cool and accept the load. If you do not understand what this review is about, please do not wire these yourself. Playing with heating pads can be dangerous in close quarters.

Rated low as I purchased two pads. After the installation and sticking the pads to the tanks, I have found only one works, the other is faulty. Since it is stuck on and cannot be removed, it was a waste of money. I will now need to try figure out next steps. Suggest you test the operation before you Install, a bit difficult as they are thermostat controlled and you have to cool them down to get them to operate.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do NOT use these anywhere but external metal tanks. Not safe
Reviewed in Canada on February 3, 2021
I bought two in November. I installed them in my RV under the batteries (lifep04, not lead acid or anything else caustic). They worked fine for 3 weeks, but now one has failed. It switches on for a second every 10 seconds and then switches off. Its -8 in the battery bay, so they should be on solid. I suspect the temperature sensor is bad, and I can smell a "burnt electrics" odor. I'm just glad not to have had a fire.
wcn
Addendum: I removed the batteries and found that the rear pad had melted under them and nearly caused a fire. I would say not safe to use anywhyer but external metal tanks which are never empty. This could have burned my RV or damaged thousands of dollars of batteries.
