The plastic button that's the top quarter of my wall-mounted garage door opener broke in a way that it won't stay on. On the circuit board there was a tiny little switch that was operated by the plastic cover I could still kinda poke to operate the door, but it was fiddly and annoying.I took out enough screws to access the bottom of the circuit board, soldered the two wires from the new switch in parallel with the tiny switch, put it all back together, and stuck the new switch to the wall where I could press it on the way out. Been using it for a while now; works great. You do need to be geared up to solder to install it.

I bought these to retrofit onto my sons plastic battery operated ATV so that he could have a thumb switch instead of a foot switch. He is a little dude, and does not have the hand strength to warrant breaking them. The second one only lasted about 10 minutes. All this being said, I am a DDC controls programmer and literally work with low voltage components, and these things are horrible.
