    I first met Joni at a writers’ retreat, when she said,”Yes” to take over the music leader’s duties. We had so much fun, so much joy. But what I remember most is the shared grief over the death of one woman’s daughter, when Joni led us in singing “He’s in This Very Room.” We were wrapped in the intimacy and comfort of God’s embrace.
    Joni is a great story-teller. You will fall in love with her and the people from her church, yet the book is not about them. This book is about a God who “is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us (Ephesians 3:20)” through those lives. And what He can do through us even in what seem like insignificant acts of service.
    Each year I get a book for all the gals in my family that I think will help them in their spiritual walk. This year, this book.

    What a precious book about the goodness of God and what happens when we as believers simply say yes! Joni Topper is a dear friend of mine whom I met through the Kairos prison ministry she writes about in her book. I have throughly enjoyed reading her stories as I can see her beautiful face as she tells them. I knew she had many talents that she uses for God’s glory but seeing her words on the page make me keenly aware of what a great writer she is. I just wonder how she had time I write it with everything else she does. I highly recommend this book!

Warning: have a box of tissues handy-the power of what God can do in a small church in the Hill Country of Texas had me crying tears of joy and thanksgiving.
