- Reviewed in the United States on February 20, 2025This book doesn't fall neatly into the normal categories, and that's a good thing. Solid story line starts off with a bang and gives you interesting characters both to ponder and root for. Outdoor wood craft mixed with just a sprinkle of other worldly vibes make for some fascinating story telling. I took off one star for the middle part of the book. It drug on a bit. But hear me out... stick with it because the pace picked back up and the ending is a slam-bang winner, winner, chicken dinner. Pun intended. Oh and if you're tired of every author trying to shoehorn a romance into a good mystery then have no fear. None included nor needed.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 16, 2025I enjoyed this book. It made me laugh. It had drama and love of family. A little fighting and injuries. The ending was pretty good too. I hope there's more.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 8, 2020A good, amateur book that was entertaining enough for me to happily carve out time in my day to finish!
It definitely felt like an independently published book and had some major typos and errors throughout but it was fun to read and recognize places I know.
I liked the idea of the mythology woven between this book but was honestly surprised it wasn’t more of a love story (totally predictable, right?! I was so wrong!) and that’s not necessarily a bad thing! I did get a bit lost with so many characters being introduced and not always being so clear about their role in the plot, but it ended up ok!
Overall - a cool book to read if you’re from the area!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2024This was a very well written book. Excellent story, good character development, believable, good ending, never dragged. It’s hard to believe this is the author’s first book. Just finished reading it and already ordered the second in the series. At first, I thought it would be a little creepy as it seemed to be about the paranormal but it really was more of a book about people living a little off the grid but close enough to the big city to make it more relatable. As I read on, I couldn’t put the book down. It was really well thought out and kept my interest without being over the top, a hard line to walk. I’m glad there’s going to be four more books in this series with the same characters as I think there’s plenty of room for them to grow and continue to be relatable.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 28, 2024This book took off with a rollercoaster of a ride. I was in a chokehold of paranormal mystery the entire time. There were a few paragraphs that had some errors but it didn't really take away from the story. This book is absolutely amazing.
Fans of James Patterson, Dean Koontz, Tedd Dekker, Stephen King and Thomas O'Callaghan will devour it!

- Reviewed in the United States on February 13, 2025The pairing of a librarian and a tracker is an ingenious. David Barber weaves a gripping tale of missing children and the dangerous search to find and save them! I found this story both intriguing and very entertaining. I liked the plot and was drawn to care about the victims and the detectives trying to solve the mystery. I highly recommend this author and the series The Valley Of Lost Children: Tye Cain Wilderness Mystery.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 5, 2023This book was okay. It is unusual and not predictable which is good. There are hints at shape shifting but it is never clear. I liked that relationships were not predictable. I’ll need to read more of the series to decide if the rating should be higher.

4.0 out of 5 stars recommend
I always like reading books that are located in an area I’m familiar with. The storyline deals with the abduction of children. The rescue of those children involves things you can see and explain and some you can’t.
