Review

A USA Today Bestseller

An Illinois Monarch Award Master List Book

Praise for The Magical Yet:
“When children are old enough to do things on their own but are frustrated because they struggle with their nascent abilities, this enchanting picture book introduces them to their limitless potential by way of Yet, that oh-so-important word that encourages them to have patience with themselves as they continue to keep trying.” ―
Lacey Vorrasi-Banis, Entertainment Weekly

“Oh, I love this one! This is a book about resiliency and how you might not be good at something... yet. The Magical Yet is by your side helping you as you learn and grow. The adorable illustrations feature a diverse group of children, but everyone will be able to see a little of themselves in this book because of the topic.”

Kathleen Shea-Porter, Buzzfeed

"With splashy artwork and catchy rhymes, the creators give families and educators a tool that spurs kids on to success."―
Publishers Weekly

"The depictions of difficult situations, such as learning to ride a bike, learning to dance, or practicing painting, are sure to strike a chord with children struggling to pick up something new, and the positive outcomes brought on by practice and perseverance are sure to inspire readers to never give up. A lovely addition to picture-book collections."―
Booklist

"The artwork is powerful and detailed....A solid if message-driven conversation starter about the hard parts of learning."―
Kirkus Reviews

"This rhyming, motivational picture book tackles the lesson of perseverance. It promotes trying new things and letting yourself fail along the way.
With bright colorful, illustrations and an inspirational message, this 2021 picture book is a great substitute for Dr. Seuss’s popular Oh, the Places You’ll Go!"―Bookriot

This book is absolutely beautiful
I don't normally review things. But this book was too good not to review. The artwork is gorgeous and the message is beautiful. I teared up reading it to my little. It's a powerful book for little kids to remind them of how far they've come and much further they can go. I love this book.

In my opinion this is one of the best kids books out there. I was a pre-k teacher and am now a counselor who works with kids and I just think this is so sweet, inspiring, and such a good message for kids. I've purchased at least 3 times for gifts and each parent loves it.

The perfect gift for a new mom that has been trying to conceive for a long time or experienced miscarriages. But also just a very sweet book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice book!

Bought this for my almost four year old who has always had a “poor/quitter” attitude towards difficult or new tasks. She loves the illustrations and story so I definitely recommend this book. I do wish the author had a little excerpt for the parents on how to explain a “yet” … haha for whatever reason I always stumble over explaining a “yet”, maybe because the book talks about it as a physical thing so that is what she is imagining.

We also picked up a couple of other books to try and change her mindset (the most magnificent thing and I can do hard things) and I do notice a difference in her attitude so I think the books are helping.

La historia y las ilustraciones son lo máximo, me encantaría pedir otro libro ilustrado por Lorena Álvarez! Pero lo de siempre con los libros pedidos por Amazon, la sobrecubierta llegó algo golpeada.

Really amazing message for our kid, on perseverance and trying again and again for eventually mastering pretty much any skill or simply enjoying hobbies for the sake of it, without quitting the minute it gets tricky... I love the diversity in the characters representations! +non binary main character? which is awesome. Illustrations are wonderful.

What a wonderful book. Beautifully written with sweet, but poignant rhymes, easy to understand (my 4.5 yr old daughter loves it), and a truly fantastic message. It’s about how everyone has a cute magical creature called their Magical Yet. It helps us believe in ourselves, get through the disappointments that are guaranteed, and lets us know that we’re not alone when we try again and again. It shows realistically discouraged, then determined kids practicing their way to eventual success and it’s really just a lovely messages.

I’d buy it for any kid from about age 3 on up.
