Colors of Deceit - An Olivia Samuels Mystery: If Your Thoughts Could Be Seen.....What Colors Would You Be Thinking?? Olivia Knows!! (Olivia Samuels' Color Series Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 36 ratings

COLORS OF DECEIT If your thoughts could be seen, what colors would you be thinking? Olivia knows! Four people are murdered and another thirty injured by a masked gunman in an eight-second shooting spree. One of the gunshot victims dies during what should have been a life-saving yet routine surgery. It could just be a coincidence, right? Detective Olivia Samuels and the Emergency Rescue Unit (ERU) don’t believe in coincidences. As clues are unraveled and more confusion arises, the detective is certain the fifth victim was not random. But Olivia’s special neurological senses are strained and seemingly overpower her at times. As the team sets a fast-paced investigation to narrow down the suspects, find the shooter, and save the launch of a lifesaving drug, her senses are being bombarded and over-stimulated. Amidst the chaos of trying to sort out all of the facts, Olivia encounters Dr. Kraig Richardson. The instant connection she feels with him is exhilarating. Only, it seems he is also her number one suspect in the case. Just how far will the ones responsible go to keep the truth from Olivia and her team? Colors of Deceit- An Oliva Samuels Mystery by Sharon Keathley $4.99, (KU) 3985 locations ***** 3/24/20
For a first book, 5-stars are unusual but as rare as it is, for me, this book deserved a 5-star rating. I don’t normally read mysteries, but this book caught my attention from page one and I didn’t lose that attention until the very last page. The character building was great, bringing you into the characters lives and making you feel as if you had known them forever. The story was enticing, exciting, kept you guessing, and the flow was perfect. I loved having a strong heroine that was confident, smart and on top of detective work. I didn’t find a thing out of order or any boundaries being gone over with either of the main characters jobs and how they performed them. As a nurse, the medicals were written very near the way things happen as well as was the detective work. This, in itself, made the book very griping to me as I couldn’t find anything that would make me say, “that doesn’t happen in real life”. The ending was great! It wrapped up all the questions about this case, so you weren’t left wondering about anything. It was a solid ending though it does end in the way you know there is more to come from these characters in future books. The author did a fantastic job of keeping my attention and I wasn’t able to put this book down. So again, for a first book by this author, “Great job, Ms. Keathley”!

The Colors of Deceit is a very well written and engaging story. You get two mysteries in one book.
Why would a mass shooting spree occur during a conference of a drug company announcing the launch of a new cancer drug that could literally save thousands of lives?
One of the shooting victims dies unexpectedly in the operating room during surgery. Was it murder or coincidence?
Feisty Detective Olivia Samuels has a special gift of being able to see vivid colors surrounding people as they think and feel. The colors can change depending on degree of emotion. Detective Samuels uses this gift to weed out lies and deception while searching for the truth.
Author Sharon Keathley takes you behind the scenes of an OR and how it has to function as a well-oiled machine in order to save lives and how devastating the consequences can be if it can't.
Each detail is cleverly woven together as Detective Samuels gathers information to solve the crimes. Many twists and turns keep you guessing. A very good read.

Took this book on a cruise vacation, but started reading it on the flight there. It was so good, I couldn't put it down, so finished it before I ever boarded the ship. Can't wait for more books by Sharon Keathley.

Great character development. You can tell the author is either familiar or did thorough research. I love a good mystery and I like that it doesn't leave you hanging. It is a well thought out plot!
