An Instant Winner with Kids!!!!
I just read this book today with a group of kids ages 4-7 in an outdoor classroom, and the kids absolutely loved it!!! They liked guessing the animal on each page and talking about why animals might not be able to do certain things. The ziplining zebra was a crowd favorite as well as of course the star of the book: the T-Rex. The words in the manuscript sing and the illustrations make the quirky ideas pop right off the page with attention getting colors and hilarious details. And here's the way I knew the book was a winner--right after I read it and put it in my wagon, a kid snuck the book out of my wagon to go through the pages all over again.

It does not have a continuous story but each page has a fun illustration and a blurb for that image's letter using the letter's sound multiple times. It's nice because often alphabet books will use one word for the letter on that page, so I've found this one more reinforcing. Plus the cute humor had my kiddos giggling.

It's a fun ABC book about various things certain animals can't do (all of which are things little kids may feel frustrated they can't do yet), but the message is that it's okay that everyone is different. The artwork is delightful, and at the end there is a sweet image of animals that can do certain things helping the animals that can't do certain things. Very sweet, very funny book!
