Willow and the Wolf (The Shifters Series Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 1,890 ratings

She's NOT afraid of the big bad wolf.

Wolf shifter, Malcolm Burke, lives an ordinary life and that’s just the way he likes it. Until Willow Tanner waltzes into his office and into his life. Perky, odd, and human – his new receptionist is definitely not what he’s looking for. So why does his wolf so vehemently insist Willow belongs to him? And why does he find it so difficult to resist her sweet kisses?

Willow Tanner knows what she wants, and what she wants is the grumpy but deliciously sexy Malcolm Burke. The wolf shifter makes her entire body tingle, and she’s not going to let a silly little thing like him being a paranormal stop her from coaxing him into her bed.

Determined to prove she’s no ordinary human, Willow uses her special abilities to help Mal and his partners at the security firm. But when her curiosity and eagerness to help lands her in trouble, Mal will do whatever it takes to keep her safe.

Author’s Note: This book contains explicit and steamy scenes that may not be your cup of tea.

OMG! I love Willow and all her antics. When Willow takes a job with Malcolm as a receptionist, Mal's wolf takes immediate notice but Mal has never wanted a relationship with a human. Willow is funny and sassy and good at her job and her other activities like helping ghosts go into the light. Then Mal's security firm takes a job protecting a warehouse where there may be ghosts. Willow helps with the ghosts and other evil things going on in the warehouse. Willow and Mal can't seem to take their hands off each other although Mal fights it. Then things in the warehouse get worse. Can Mal save Willow when things go bad at the warehouse? This book has adventure, non stop action, steamy romance and a whole lot of denying feelings before the happy ending.

Ok this was a cute read.

It has mystery, danger, sex, romance, bit of comedy and of course a happy ending.

I really enjoyed the main characters. You had a woman that knew herself but still had to set out and setup. Her partner-in-crime had strength herself (but she'll have to figure that out in her own story).
The main male (wolf shifter), big, tough wolf/guy with one bug issue to over come. Don't get me started on his partner-in-crime bear shifter (he will also have to figure out in his and Ava story).

Anyway for some this story would rank 5 star.

I enjoyed this book. It was a light read and low on the spice and angst. Willow was funny, kept everyone on their toes, and was so totally unapologetic herself. Mal absolutely could not resist her even though he tried hard.

If you're looking for a light, humorous read, you'll enjoy this book.

It definitely felt like a good case of insta-love / fate-mate syndrome between Willow and Mal and then a little later Ava and Bishop but as usual the men fought it... Which seems to be the way it goes most often either the guys fights it and runs from it no matter her species ( human, shifter vamp.,Fae whatever) or he gets all uber macho alpha and is all MINE! and tries ( and sometimes sadly succeeds ) in taking over her life and sometimes being more her dictator and commander than a lover and mate and she just lets it happen coz between her hormones and her ever damp panties she seems to lost all sense, self respect and brain function and is not his to command with little to No respect for her and she fine with because being a BBW ( Big Beautiful Woman ( who feels anything but Beautiful ) ( isn't she just lucky to have a man want her ? Especially an attractive one at that) ...
But that not the case here 1st she pursues him to the point of sexual harassment almost but it was funny and well done and it was really enjoyable to and I loved how much I laughed ,finally after what felt like an never ending dry patch of books I felt I was simply enduring here was one that was funny and interesting and engaging even in the commitment phobic Bear and Wolf was a bit annoying especially Bishop and his I wanna F you one minute and I'll kill any one her touched or kisses her ( Ava) the next and and literally running for the hills the next,I know the writer was/is saving those two for the next book but by the end it was really old and more than a little annoying :(
Anyway one minute Willow is ALL over Mal sometimes literally and constantly telling him how open minded she is,what a free Spirit she is, how she always running off after ghosts on a whim etc. and yet even thou she know she loves him, when he bites her during sex and then runs off embarrassed by his actions, she justifiably pissed off by his behavior, more the running than the biting.. But when he finally wolves up and apologizes and admits he loves her , she just tell him she wants time to figure things out... Ok,ok that sounds reasonable despite her flighty ness ,that's just sensible... But how does the book end after all they go thru ? After knowing he loves her, is committed for the rest of his life to her,( will never have anyone else but her) and that she loves him etc..... She's like lets just date, and get to know each other then they have sex? WTF ? Come on!!! The 1st 75% of the book she's chasing him like Peppy freaking Le Pu the once she's got him she cooks off and then to make things worst if you read the preview for the next book? Their still just dating 4-5 months later while poor Mal is still chomping at the bit to set a wedding date .... WTH...
Honestly I Loved the 1st 75% but between Willow becoming a bit of a hypocrite ( in my opinion) and a few other niggly little things I honestly wasn't a fan of the last quarter of the book...
Would I recommend the book ? Sure why not, my feeling at VERY mixed and if there was a self destruct/ delete button here at the end it would be gone already but I did have a lot of laughs to begin with and I might come back for Ava and Bishops story as annoying as Bish was and as annoyed as I'll be to see poor Mal having no to chase the I'm a free/open minded Spirit hypocrite Willow...
Enjoy

The story is sweet and a little spicy. I like the characters. They seem to match each other. I hope I get to find out more about what will happen to them as a side story in other books in the series.

Willow wants to meet paranormals so she gets a job with a security company. The sexy wolf-shifter who owns it couldn't be meaner to her but she befriends the other owners, a jaguar-shifter and bear-shifter. During a difficult case, Willow helps them by using her ability to speak with ghosts. She's surprised when her wolf boss suddenly will do anything he can to keep her safe.
Cute story. Great characters. I enjoyed reading it but sometimes got distracted by the language.

I really enjoyed this story. I've read many, many romances, this is one of the few joyfully sex positive I've read. Definitely not one for the prudish.
