J.D. Greear is the pastor of The Summit Church, in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina. Under Pastor J.D.’s leadership, the Summit has grown from a plateaued church of 300 to one of over 12,000. Pastor J.D. has led the Summit in a bold vision to plant one thousand new churches by the year 2050.

Pastor J.D. Greear has authored several books, including Essential Christianity (2023), What Are You Going to Do with Your Life? (2020), Searching for Christmas (2020), Above All (2019), Not God Enough (2018), Gaining by Losing (2015), Gospel (2011), Stop Asking Jesus into Your Heart (2013), and Jesus, Continued… (2014).     I started writing for animation, with credits for such TV shows as "Dennis the Menace," "Heathcliff" and "Flintstone Kids." I found my way to Orlando and wrote three seasons on "The Mickey Mouse Club" the show that launched the careers of Justin Timberlake, Ryan Gosling, Brittany Spears and Christina Aguilera.

    GSN and the producers of "The American Bible Challenge" contacted me and asked me to help them put together a game show about the Bible. I joined them in Los Angeles and have worked with an amazing team through the pilot and three seasons.

    One of the highlights of my career was writing the video series of "Hermie & Friends," not only because I got to work with Max Lucado, an author whose writing style I connected with, but because I was able to write for Tim Conway and Don Knotts.

    I have enjoyed my relationship with the online Bible GLO where I produced a documentary on the life of Jesus called "In His Shoes." What a thrill to walk in the paths of Jesus Christ and share thoughts about his life with Max Lucado and Norman Geisler. (www.globible.com)

    I really enjoyed Pastor J. D.'s latest book answering the most common questions he gets from people. He deals with questions that most people wrestle with and provides good and thoughtful answers along with illustrations from our contemporary world to help the reader understand the principles he is driving home. He applies a generous amount of good humor in dealing with sometimes thorny questions and ideas. While he sometimes references back to an earlier chapter, the reader can just find the chapter of interest and dive in. I found the book helpful and delightful to read.

    As a Christian, I've had more questions than answers and reading this was comforting in the sense that I could relate to the fact that I am not the only who has at one point asked, if God exists then why does He sit back and watch bad things happening to good people? And in how the author explores these questions, was totally opposite to what my Mom would tell me- she approached the Bible more like Literature and at one point, she even told me 'If God could watch mere mortals whip and nail his son to the cross, how can you compare that to a few fights or theft or crimes? Think about it, he's a parent and he let his son die to prove a point..' and she would go on and on. I am certain that anyone who is curious about these, or has at some point found themselves at a crossroads in their faith could learn a thing or two from this book.
