About this item

  • Power an electronic project or convert old hardware to use USB-C power input.
  • Performs PD power negotiation. Supports up to 5A.
  • Not all USB-C power supplies can support all voltages. If the power supply does not support the requested voltage then the next lowest voltage will be provided.
  • The module just performs the PD negotiation and passes the output.
  • Attention: In order to use it over 3A you need to use an electronically marked Type-C cable. A real USB PD power source is required, will not work with QC-only chargers.

Quality control issues, but when they work they're great
I ordered two sets, one set of 9V and a set of 12V. Tested them all, 11 out of 12 worked great out of the box. One of the 9V modules did not; it was only getting 5V instead of 9V. Upon inspection, I found that one of the little surface mount resistors was out of place. Fixed it with a fine tip soldering iron and a careful hand, and now all 12 are working great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Working good 12.04 volts.

I used this to adapt a 12v cigarette lighter style adapter to a USB-C outlet on my Noco GBX155 so that I have a power source for things you’d normally plug into your car. I used a 5 amp fuse to make sure I don’t draw more than 60 watts which is also what the USB-C and this part are rated at. It negotiated 12v from my jump starter pack no problem and showed 12.04 volts on my meter. After soldering the wires on to the labeled spots, I used marine shrink wrap to seal it all up. Working good!

5.0 out of 5 stars Does what it says

The breakout board negotiates a 12v output from all of my USB PD chargers that support 12v. On the one charger that has 9v and 15v support(but no 12v) the triggers a 9v output.

I have not yet verified the amperage claims.

2.0 out of 5 stars Wrong voltage

Ordered a 12v output device. The package and the label on the device say 12v. The actual output (measured directly with multimeter) is 9v. Tested all six device — all 9v. Fail.
