- Reviewed in the United States on July 7, 2019I got this for my son for his 4th birthday, and he cannot stop playing it. He has shown little interest in any other game, but we have played this game multiple times per day for a month now. I personally think the pieces are sturdy and made of thick cardboard. We haven’t managed to ruin anything yet! This game is simple, fun, and easy to learn for preschoolers. Highly recommended from this mom and her 4 year old!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 5, 2020This game was for my children ages 7 &4 both of them understood the simple directions and were able to play easily and had a really fun time! It does have a lot of smaller cardboard pieces so be sure the tiny ones don't get a hold of them. It made family game time so fun! Lots of laughter and lots of practice with counting!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 21, 2023This was a very colorful game board with appealing cute button pieces. The board is quite large which is nice for younger kids. Easy to learn and enjoyable. The spinner is built into the board, so kids have to learn how to reach it without knocking the player pieces over. But it helps that you won't lose it. Simple directions, so young kids can understand that you get buttons or give away buttons to Pete. The "jar" that you place your buttons in is a small flat piece of cardboard. This is not designed to hold buttons well when you switch "jars" with other players. I plan on using small plastic cups, so buttons stay in place. It was a very good game!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 21, 2017We love this game so much we bought it as a birthday present! You never have to move more than 4 spaces at a time, so younger children that can count to 4 can play without much frustration. The goal is to have the most buttons by the end of the game, but there are spaces that you land on where you can switch button jars with any player you want, and spaces where you have to put some of your buttons onto the board (and if someone lands on the special space, they get all the buttons off the board). Another nice feature is the spinner is built in to the board, so you can't lose it. Very easy, but fun game. One of the games for younger children that don't make me cringe when the kids ask to play!

Images in this review - Reviewed in the United States on November 30, 2017It is a fun game if child is familiar with Pete the Cat books. Our four year old grand daughter played with us. I only gave it four stars cause everything in the box was cardboard (almost). The spinner was plastic. It would be nice to have plastic buttons or something better to put the buttons in beside a cardboard flat pretend button jar.
Still the game is fun for age group and Pete the Cat books are wonderful for preschoolers and first graders and some older children. There is a cool rap song on Pete the Cat's author, James Dean's website. The rap song goes with words in the book and would be good to download when you buy the game.
BTW, our grandnephew, age 2 1/2, LOVED the Pete the Cat and his Four Groovy Buttons book we gave him.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2019Very nice , even though we are NOT fans of Pete The Cat books at all 😃Cardboard is thick and sturdy. Quad-fold board (not a fan of those and personally prefer bi-fold ones, though) My kids love the cute buttons. The game rules are easy. You land on green - you take that many buttons and put it in your jar, land on red - take out that many buttons. Land on blue - swap your jar with any player. The object if the game is to be that player with the most amount of buttons by the end of the game.
We had to modify the game a little bit. Since there are a lot of buttons and they don’t fit on top of the cardboard jars that came with it, I went to the store and bought small Pioneer Woman mason jars that were on clearance, and we use them instead, which makes it easier when it comes to swapping too, plus it adds some cuteness to it.
