The Sheriff and the Branding Iron Murders: Sheriff Charles Matthews Series, Book 2
Audible Audiobook
– Unabridged
When cowboy artist Willie Russell is murdered on the Branding Iron Ranch, Sheriff Charles Matthews faces a mystery that seems built on the bones of the past. Willie Russell leaves behind sketches that illustrate a century-old legend of a brutal outlaw, a beautiful young woman, and the lost Santiago Crucifix, a three-foot-tall cross of solid gold.
With only the sketches, the footprints of Johnny Brentwood, and very little else, Charles focuses on the eerie links between past and present events. Were Willie's sketches the story of the past, or a portent of the future?

- Reviewed in the United States on February 13, 20215 Stars for J. R. Meredith for an old fashion murder mystery without high tech names, devices and organizations, and multiple persons with strange names. Down to earth and entertaining.

I lived in the Panhandle area for
many years and even know a lot of the
people she mentions. What more could
could I ask for? Keep them coming!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 6, 2015Fun, fast read, mystery plus a little romance. I felt set down in the Panhandle. The author gives an excellent sense of place.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great read
Another great read, this one brings in some of the history of the Texas panhandle which I found fascinating. The descriptions of the landscapes and associated characters is wonderful making you able to visualize it.
