I've used Kikkoman soy sauce my entire life and never really thought much of it. recently, I've been into making homemade Ramen and after watching many youtube videos, I discovered everyone was using "dark soy sauce".

So, I went right to my goto place for everything, Amazon, as the nearest Asian store to me is 20+ miles away. After reading reviews and deciding on a price point, I went for this brand.

When it arrived, I was actually strangely excited (yeah, it doesn't take much, I guess) and immediately took a taste. WOW! Intense, fantastically deep flavor I had never experienced. Night and day to my old Kikkoman.

My Ramens have never been so tasty. Stir frys come out so much better.

I actually sent a bottle to a cooking buddy of mine for Christmas, as we're always telling each other of our dishes we create. He used it on a Prime Rib he made for the family over the Holidays and told me it was the best flavor he's ever come up with. I decided to marinate a Prime Rib of my own in this with some Lea & Perrins, and then instead of baking it, I simmered it all day with vegies and beef broth and let me tell you...it turned out better than any roasts I've ever made. My girlfriend, who hates everything I make, even said she loved it and kept asking what was different. But, you know what? I didn't tell her the new secret, as I knew she'd think it was odd to use soy sauce on a meat like that.

This is my new go-to and I'll make sure I always have a spare in the pantry. Give it a try and see for yourself.

Im Vergleich zu Kikkoman fehlt hier das Röstaroma. Man hat sich also die entsprechende Vorbehandlung der Sojabohnen gespart. Nun die große Frage: Gehört Röstaroma in die Sojasoße? Wenn man eigene Röstaromen erzeugt, wie bei Pfannen-Gemüse, dann braucht man es nicht. Bei gekochten Speisen, wie bei Reis, macht es hingegen Sinn. Der erste Fall ist bei mir häufiger.

PS: Die Variante "Light" / "Hell" enthält weniger Zucker.
