About the author

S. R. Nulton has a love of fairy tales, paddle boarding, and puns. In addition to writing, she has a degree in music from Cal Poly. In addition to being a total homebody, she is a voracious reader, a decent line dancer, and a chocolate enthusiast. Her family collects people that share the same name, so she goes by Sarah Rose to avoid confusion. Do not confuse her with the other Sarahs. They are numerous. Lastly, she feels weird writing about herself in the third person. Therefore, Vin decided to spruce up Sarah Rose’s bio and agrees that it is strange to write about someone like this.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 6, 2024I loved this book. It was so funny that I ended up reading parts of it to my husband had both of us laughing out loud. It was also sweet, as characters learned more about themselves and others. I really enjoyed book and there to the author for another good clean read. Can't wait for the next book.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 4, 2024I love how different authors put a different spin on the whole fantasy genre. This author introduced me to holders. I have thoroughly enjoyed all the twists ANF turns in this stoty.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 22, 2024An interesting continuation with it being an enjoyable read. Hopefully the next book will have a bit more background on the other magical beings in this world. Also I hope that the wait for the third book won’t be as long as it was for this second book.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 27, 2024Wait…what? There’s more? I loved the first so much and book 2 says it’s book 2 of 2! So where is this third book! I love Emily and her growth. Although not currently a fan of Tristan’s growth. He could and should have done better. But at least he’s not toxic. Different features come to light and I look forward to the next installment!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2024The long-awaited successor to Not a Leading Lady does not disappoint! The humor, once again, is spot on, the fun-chaos factor is high, but at the same time, this book is dealing with more intense, bigger issues, and tackling personal and interpersonal problems at an adult level instead of teen/high school melodrama.
I had really been looking forward to seeing Emily in a position to interact with peers more than she had while stuck masquerading as a high schooler, and the higher ratio of non-trad students really helped, though you definitely have a crop of young collegiates as well. Throughout Emily's truly magical college experience, S. R. Nulton does a spectatular job of using the often-humorous meta narrative style that I so loved in Not a Leading Lady to allow Emily, as an adult, to identify many of the problematic tropes in academy/coming-of-age fiction; the contrast of younger students vs Emily is played out perfectly to lay out some hard truths in direct opposition to characters acting/believing like stereotypical FMCs.
On a personal note, Nulton did an incredible job of representing the complex emotional reactions surrounding a particular challenge Emily encounters; it was something I hadn't seen done in a book before, and she handled it very realistically. I think many readers will appreciate that representation.
Please note that this is not the end of Emily's story; while there is a satisfying conclusion to the book-specific arc and some questions are resolved (some in spectacular fashion!), more remain to be answered in book 3. Nulton once again leaves us on the cusp of a new chapter in Emily's coming into her own.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 19, 2024When I finished the first book, I assumed that the follow up would be Ted and Emily going on a road trip, getting to know each other, and the adventures of starting a new life together. The way this was written was SO MUCH BETTER than what I had imagined and actually made more sense.
I'm not gonna give away any spoilers but I'm just going to say there were some things that didn't surprise me but, maybe, will surprise others. And there's a few things that totally came out of left field.
I really liked the end. It just made sense that stuff still needs more work/attention. And I am ecstatic that there will be a third book.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 19, 2024It was an entertaining read. Loved the continuation of the story line and the change of scenery. Wish is was a little less explanatory in some aspects but that’s just a personal opinion, others may find that helpful. All in all I was excited to get back into this world and catch up with the characters. And I am hoping the author continues with the series as I can’t wait to know what happens next.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2024Emily is back and heading to college in this Take 2 of the Leading Lady series. It delves more into Emily taking charge of her life and learning the importance of her powers. There’s a lot of quirky behaviors that show the value of staying true to oneself and learning to be the best version of yourself. This was a great sequel to the first book and I enjoyed everyone’s antics!
