The Wiener Across the Way (The Cocky Kingmans Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.2 4.2 out of 5 stars 3,413 ratings

What happens when the sunshiny pop princess and the grumpy football player discover there's more to this fake romance than inspiration for a new love song?

Kelsey Best is America's pop sweetheart and anyone who says they don't like her music is a liar and needs to be punched in the nads. And I'll do it too, because I'm the guy the NFL dubbed the meanest player in the league. Great for my career on the field, not so much for my reputation off it.

So I'm shocked as hell when Kelsey's team sends my agent a wild idea – they want a showmance between us. She's looking to dodge the media frenzy after her breakup with Hollywood's latest heartthrob, and I apparently fit the bill as her perfect distraction. My agent is convinced this fake dating stunt is the key to fixing my image. The whole world is going to hate me when we fake break up. And what happens when I fall for her? She's going to create a blank space in my heart, and I don't think I'm going to be able to shake it off.

This plus-size curvy girl romance has a burnt cinnamon roll hero with a mean protective streak and a baddie plus-size pop star who is on the verge of burn out. But a Bridgertons-meets-American-Football family you'll wish you were a part of will make sure they get their happy ever after.

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 3.5/5🌶️🌶️guys this books was so cute and so sweet, and even a lil spicy at times. i’m so glad that i was given the opportunity to serve as an ARC reader for Amy Award 💗and if yall thought you loved Chris? wait till you mean Declan 😍Declan was such the perfect somewhat grumpy, but gentle giant. voted for meanest player, but such a softie for our girl Kelsey.i also loved the variety of nicknames Declan had for Kelsey, it was cute!i’m a big fan of Amy Award, yet again, for including plus size/curvy woman, and muscular dad bods of course, in her books! as a curvy woman myself, i like having characters that physically, and of course emotionally, i can relate to. creating spaces for curvy/plus size/chunky/fat, or whatever other adjectives you like to use, in fiction. fat women, fat people in general, belong in fiction (i use the word fat in no harmful way. because i can be amazing and beautiful and still be fat, fat does not have to be a negative word) 🫶🏻pop star x football player - grumpy x sunshine - fake dating - he falls first - golden retriever MMC

After reading the first book in this series, I didn’t think it was possible for the next book to be better than that. But that’s exactly what happened with this book. It. Is. Everything. So many emotions throughout this book. As in the first book, the body positivity representation is amazing. But the real story is about a popstar who has been taken advantage of, by her representation, is overworked, and is just getting over a break up with sleazebag of a boyfriend. Her manager, thinks that it would be in her best interest to have a fake romance with a football star. Enter Declan Kingman, who is anything but fake. He’s been billed as the meanest player and the NFL. But he’s really an upstanding guy and what is being called a cinnamon roll, which means he’s big and tough on the outside, but sweet and gooey on the inside. This book moved me so much that I have read it 3 times already. I love everything about it - the super cute wiener dog, Wiener the Pooh - the tie in to the popstar/football star romance playing out in the media - the positive vibes surrounding plus size ladies - and the Kingman Family! Oh my gosh I wish that they were real because I’m seriously in love with all of them! Especially Jules! She rules the house of men and I just love her to pieces. I also love that Amy doesn’t leave us hanging on the other characters from previous books. Again, so much to love about his book I could go on and on gushing about, but seriously you’re just going to have to read it for yourself!! 5 of the biggest stars I can possibly give!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

"The Wiener Across the Way" by Amy Award was an enjoyable read. One of the highlights was Declan's subtle admiration for Kelsey, adding depth to their dynamic. The portrayal of body positivity through Kesley's confidence was refreshing and empowering. Declan's family, especially his bond with his siblings and father, added richness to the story. Overall, it was a delightful read, and I eagerly anticipate the next installment in the series.

What a lovely story. I am really enjoying this new Author. She has great stories with great themes and wonderful ideology. I’m excited to see what the next book will bring. You won’t be disappointed if you read this book. I also love how the Author is making normal size people not feel like they need to be stick figures being a bit plus size woman is celebrated instead of something to be shunned enjoy.

These books are great fluff reads. They're predictable, with insta-love and cinnamon spice MMCs. I enjoyed this one as much as the first. The spice was 3/5 🌶 mostly because some scenes were summarized which I don't really care for. Overall this is a super cute series so far.

I love this series and this book! The next Kingman on the list is Declan and he’s known as the family grump. He’s paired with Kelsey Best, pop star extraordinaire. They meet when she’s in town for a show and he saves her adorable dog, Wiener the Pooh from a snake. The sparks fly from that first meeting and wow are they bright! As always, Amy gives us lovable characters, a great story and a fabulous new animal friend. Declan and Kelsey have their share of bumps in the road but the way he stays by her and supports her through all of it is absolutely amazing! We get another chance to hang out with the wild Kingman clan, including youngest and only girl Jules, who is a force in her own right, and Wiener the Pooh, an adorable dachshund who steals many a scene, all which come together to make this book an absolute must read!

Y’all - this is such a charming romance that gave me all the happy feels 🥰 Where can I get a Declan Kingman type, because I need a big ol linebacker who appreciates the curvier things in life 😅🥰🤗

The premise is that sunshiney pop super star Kelsey Best might be tempted to enter into a PR relationship with Declan Kingman, pro defensive lineman, who is up for the football league’s meanest player award and is in need of a little image rehabilitation.

What we get:
🩵PR Showmance Situationship
🩵Gruff on the outside, sweet on the inside, protective MMC with big “no one better be mean to Kelsey or else” energy.
🩵Super sweet singer songwriter mega star FMC who is a workaholic with people pleasing tendencies.
🩵Huge Football family legacy - lots of brothers, one dad, and one baddie sister.
🩵Weiner dog 🤗🥰
🩵One cabin, one bed
🩵Good girl!

Recommend if your looking for a modern day romance that has lightness and fun and sweetness without lots of angst. Is there a bit of instalove? Yes, but will it give you warm fuzzy feelings? Also, yes! I loved how not only was Declan was a fan of Kelsey’s music & totally into her physically from the START, but he truly respected her as a human and understood how hard she worked. We stan a supportive partner. I love the Kingman family and can’t wait to see who is next in the series.

Thank you to Amy Award for the ARC. All thoughts/opinions are mine and my review is voluntary.

“Ah M*rda. Sim.

I love this Book so much! Its perfect. Wiener the Pooh is just the perfect sidekick dog. Kelsey and Declan are just so lovable. Their Story is just pure fluff. It‘s not that they don’t have their fair chair of problems, but there is no big missunderstanding, where she is all heartbrocken and he has to make up for his mistakes. They face their problems together and thats exactly the fluff my with mental Health struggling Brain needed.

Knew this was going to happen to be good as I read book1- didn’t think she could top it… omg she SO did.. love the continuity of the Kingman family, loved the sass and sarcasm!! Great story, fluffy and spicy in great measure!! Can’t wait for more Kingsman stories. Also very obviously body positive- as my daughter is a 20something plus size, it’s nice for her to be able to recognise and relate to the characters!! Treat yourself, you won’t regret it !
