Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Lisa Marie Rice. I have read everything by her that I can find, including the Ghost Ops books. Midnight Embrace, however, did not immediately engage me. It had a long buildup where the danger to the heroine was too nebulous and the sexual tension between Emma and Raul was so thick it was almost annoying. I want bullets, chases, and instant gratification!Emma was one of the NSA brainiacs with Hope and Felicity; therefore, having her so spaced out by Raul's masculinity was not working for me. As for Raul, if the author mentioned once, she mentioned ten or twenty times that he was an ex-Seal, now employed by ASI, with superior situational awareness and completely lethal. So why did he seem totally fogged by lust even before he meets Emma in the flesh?I liked Emma's devotion to her friend Toby, her determination to find him and the fact that she finally got her brain going after she and Raul got had sex. Toby's analysis of the oncoming financial storm, Emma's NSA history and Jacob Black all combined to save the day. There was even a flash at that end to Riley that has me salivating for more.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Emma, a good friend and computer wiz, uses the HER room to request aid from Felicity and Hope. Knowing that she might be in trouble, Jacko send Raul to see what is going on. Toby Jackson her co worker, has gone missing and something weird is going on in the stockmarket and it looks like it is centered at PIB, the bank they work for. This is a twisted story with plenty of action and some romance.

Lisa Marie Rice is an auto buy for me. This one did not disappoint, loved “seeing “ favorite characters from other books. My only thought was they should have been brought into the story sooner, but still enjoyed the story and looking forward to rereading it to pick up anything I might have missed. If the Midnight men are ones you enjoy you should be happy with this one.

I love the midnight series and glad to see the new ones. This one was a little tame compared to the original books, but I loved Emma. Raul wasn't as macho either but I loved how be accepted his short comings. The dance scene cracked me up. I a!ready downloaded the next one.

Enjoyed the 2nd book in the series. A little, difficult at times because of the banking and trading methods referred to in the story so can get a little confusing but you get the general idea of what’s happening. Can’t wait for the next one.

This book was very intriguing…a fast paced read that had me quickly turning each and every page. It had action, emotion and drama, some scary moments too! You’ll enjoy it and I promise you you’ll be hooked and ready for the next book in the series.

This is as good as all the others. Lisa Marie Rice never fails to deliver. Will always keep an eye out for her next release.

I read Book 1 of this series, and was puzzled by how "meh" it was compared to her first "Midnight" novel, Midnight Man. Then, I read this one, Book 2 - Midnight Embrace. THAT'S when I got angry.

These two first books are virtually identical. Different names, physically different main characters, but the plots are cookie-cutter. What a rip-off paying full price for these books!

The stories aren't even that interesting. Lisa Marie Rice must have had some kind of X number of books contract, because these were so mediocre. I was expecting more of the adrenalin driven story lines. The super hot sex scenes were non-existent, and were IDENTICAL in both books. Same wording, same everything. I am suspicious LMR had someone else ghost-write these books for her.

So disappointed. I'm not sure if I'm even going to bother with the 3rd book. I might try to return it.

I have books #4 and 5 on my list to get, but I will probably skip buying them completely.

A great, intelligent, suspenseful, sexy read. I love the smart heroines and strong, sexy heroes. Always keep you guessing and a race against the clock to stop the bad guys. Never disappoints.

I love these, they are like catnip irresistible. I loved Raul he’s so adorably macho, but sweet with it. I love that his worst threat to Emma was “I’m going to say “I told you so!” That made me chuckle. One slight nit is we never do find out what Emma’s problem with her family is, it’s just left hanging in the air.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just what you'd expect from Lisa Marie Rice
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 13, 2022
Fans of Lisa Marie Rice know just what to expect when reading her books. She has found a formula for her stories that she manages very well. There is action, suspense related to a potentially global level threat, alpha men, super-smart women, a sense of community and lots of sexual chemistry. There is a certain comfort in knowing you are going to get exactly what you expect with this series.

That said, what saves the book from being an almost duplicate of the previous books is the issues that the characters must resolve which requires the protagonists' unique talents backed the growing strength of ASI. Raul and Emma are a dynamic duo!

Another shift in this book from the Men of Midnight series is the focus on Emma's sexuality. Usually the men are completely distracted by their mates until her safety becomes questionable, at which point they become hyper focused. While that is still the case, Emma is also unapologetically interested and distracted in Raul. I liked that honesty because women can be just as attracted to men and want to connect physically.

Overall this was a fun read. As I said, it is exactly what you'd expect from Lisa Marie Rice.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
