So for those of you in fridged regions where snow is prevalent, I applaud you. I'm in GA. But we frequently get to the middle teens during the winter ... on occasion we get to 6F as a low for a couple nights. The heated waters for chickens didn't work well for my girls since they like to dip their waddles and full beak to the water when they drink (regardless of the temp). They can't do this with the typical "chicken waterers" that only allow a small channel of water to access. I have 20 chickens and they barely touched the water in the "chicken waters" (heated or not). I had this heated pet water bowl and decided to see if the girls (hens) would drink from that bowl and it turned out they did. Matter of fact, I found myself having to repeatedly fill the bows during the winter because my chickens would drink so much more water even though the temps were fridged (by GA standards). I now have 3 of these heated water bowls (2 in use and one as a backup). Highly recommend.

I use three of these in my barn to provide water for my chickens. After 7 years, only one of them has gone bad, which is a great lifetime for a product like this that keeps water thawed down to -25F or lower. I used to use the metal heat platforms and metal dishes, but the metal platforms just don't last more than a year or two. I leave these out all year, but unplug them once freezing weather is gone. They are large and hold plenty of water, and the smooth plastic cleans easily with a paper towel.

Deep dishes. Cord seems okay as not the most heavy duty but still. I wish the cords were longer. I should've read the reviews. Hopefully they work out this winter for barn cats and the couple random possums that'll show up. Lol. They have to eat,drink and stay warm too. So it is what it is. But I wish the cords were longer. Hopefully these will be safe to use. I won't be using ext cords bc it's dangerous. I'll just raise the bowls up with a couple things. I'll let you know by April how things go.
