Once again, John Williams shows why he is probably the undisputed master of film scores. He has a lot of competition (Jerry Goldsmith, James Horner, Lalo Schifrin, Hans Zimmer) but considering the number of blockbuster films he has scored, I'd put him at the top - since it is likely his scoring abilities that contributed in no small way to the success of these films.
'Temple of Doom', being the darkest of the 'Indy' series, got a lot of criticism that was largely undeserved. Williams' score, however, is beyond reproach - particularly with this soundtrack release. This is pretty much the complete score; nothing glaring is left out. In the previous release of the soundtrack (1984), the limitations of vinyl were obvious; in addition, the market largely viewed soundtracks as a poor investment (in spite of the interest of us soundtrack buffs) and offered limited releases of them, if at all (even Williams' masterpiece 'Return of the Jedi' score had been released only in a 1-LP album with very limited tracks the previous year). The CD release of this film, by comparison, changed all that - significantly for the better.
Several of the tracks are previously unreleased or contain previously unreleased cues; most notable of some of these are 'Indy negotiates', as Jones angrily deals with a Chinese gangster trying to swindle him; 'Map-Out of Fuel', as Indy, Willie & Short Round make a narrow escape from a plane over the Himalayas before it hits a mountainside; 'The Scroll/To Pankot Palace', as Indy & his friends make their way towards the Palace by elephant, and Indy finds a chilling statue of Kali. 'The Mine Car Chase', a wild, fast-paced melody that gives the flutes/piccolos a workout as Indy, Willie & Short Round race through the mine in a mine car, trying to escape Mola Ram's sinister thugs, is great fun. 'The Sword Trick', a previously unreleased track, has a cue from 'Raiders' in it (from the sequence when Indy took on the Arab Swordsman). It is very subtle - you would have to listen closely to hear it. 'The Broken Bridge/British Relief' is a great track featuring brass & percussion as Indy cuts through the bridge supports, sending the Thuggee guards plummeting to their deaths in a crocodile-filled river. The only part missing in this track was the great low drums that started this sequence (as the Thuggee guards closed in on Indy from opposite sides of the bridge).
It is a shame the full score was not released 25+ years ago when the movie was made. Glad to see it released now!

I LOVE THIS ALBUM! I don’t care if it’s from one of the least loved Indiana Jones films. It’s obviously a repackage from one of the multi-disc sets, but I don’t care. It has more music than the original release of this soundtrack. I am VERY pleased with this, as it has been one of the hardest of the Indiana Jones soundtracks to find.

I thought I would never own this CD. For many of my childhood favorites, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg are the holy grail of movies. Recently I started trying to build up my John Williams collection, one of the greatest composers to ever grace the silver screen with his variety and sweeping scores - but most of his discs are no longer available to purchase locally, or even within a reasonable drive from where I live and work. When I found this CD on Amazon, I knew I had to have it. The Temple of Doom is my favorite Indy flick, and this score does not disappoint. It is full of energy and a handful of amazing themes. Very exciting stuff to listen to on a long drive to the city! The disc itself was brand new, as listed, and the packing material used for shipping was perfect. Will definitely be building my library of Williams music even more!

Excellent to see this old favourite.
I was happy to see this at a good price and had the award winning music from Composer John Williams, who is the master when it comes to film scores. I had this on tape before and since Technology has moved on I thought it was about time I replaced the tape with this polished version on CD.

Can you find a better composer than John Williams?? He had worked as a staff composer for Universal for about 20 years before "Jaws". Since "Jaws", he has given us some of the best soundtracks you could ask for. This was a dark and sinister story, and Williams' score helps you ride the adventure and darkness just the way he has always given up amazing sounds for each movie.

I would expect nothing less than excellence from John Williams's soundtracks, and this one was no exception. I had the original record when the film came out but, of course, with some additions and additional music, this release (which for a very long time existed only in foreign reprints) has been re-mastered to bring out the rich and varied orchestrations. Outside of the main Raiders march, Williams adds some significant new themes for this second film in the Indiana Jones series. There are the thems for Short Round and Willie Scott, and full-length pieces for the slave children and Thuggee cult temple. Like the film, this music soundtrack is a great adventure and I am delighted to listen to it time and again.

This is one of my favorite Indiana Jones CDs and of all my John Williams CDs. Track 13 has the same chant heard when Indy is becoming possessed and when the guy gets his heart ripped out. Spooky sounding. Other tracks feature Short-Round's theme as well as the typcial love themes and the Slave Children march. Tracks 1-5 feature the terror through Japan.

This is one of my top ten soundtracks and films. Probably no. 5. It has quite a good booklet with it with some notes, including who played in the orchestra and some really good photos. Unfortunately this isn't the complete score, but almost. End Credits and Short Round's Theme are my two favourites. They are the most uplifting, rich and emotional!

La apertura de indiana jones and the temple of doom, no estaría completa sin la magnifica anything goes, seguida por short round theme, sin dejar atrás a slave childrens theme. una música entrañable para una gran película de indy.
