Definitely read this one first!
I snuck this one in quick over the past three days because I had to get to Leather & Lark before attending a Brynne Weaver event later this week. And wow—Butcher & Blackbird did not disappoint. This book was a dark, twisted, and surprisingly hilarious ride, and I loved every second of it… except maybe the food descriptions. I may never look at certain meals the same way again.The chemistry between the main characters was excellent... though I wish they had figured it all out a bit sooner! Brynne Weaver has a knack for balancing the macabre with humor in a way that shouldn’t work, but absolutely does. The pacing was fantastic, and I devoured (again, maybe the wrong word choice?) every chapter.Solid 4 stars from me! I probably would’ve gone 4.5 or even 5, but seriously… some things just shouldn’t be associated with food. Off to Leather & Lark now—wish me luck!

I read the trigger warnings and was a little concerned however, they weren't as bad as other books I've read so I don't feel that anything was taken away from the story. The accidental cannibalism honestly, was very humorous, yeah it was gross but it was funny! I believe this is the first book I have read by this author and she did an amazing job! I absolutely love Rowan and Sloane. The fact that The story is basically based on two serial killers that kill really bad serial killers was just a crazy and brilliant idea. I loved the story line, the plot development was so well written I could barely put the book down. I absolutely fell in love with Rowan, he just is so I don't know, perfectly imperfect I suppose! And Sloane she is a bada$$ but also a very vulnerable human being. I just love the two of them together! I really enjoyed the secondary characters too and I cannot wait to read the next book in the series. I purchased the Kindle version and audible and I must admit listening to the book made the book even more amazing! Both narrators are phenomenal and they did such a fantastic job bringing these characters to life. If I had to choose I'd choose to listen to the book. I'm glad I was able to read along with the book while I was listening to the audible, it helps me to focus on the story! I really really loved this story and I cannot wait to start listening to the next book.

    I really give this book a 4.5/5 stars overall ONLY because I wanted more murder scenes between these two because the banter they had throughout this book was just unmatched! Rowan and Sloane’s chemistry also felt so authentically real. They even had real relationship milestone phases like the puppy love stage, the jealous and insecure phase, etc.. It wasn’t like other books where the main characters are like strangers in one chapter and then immediately hunching and proposing in the next. So that was a huge plus for me!     Finally read it. After DNFn this once and then picking it up again because I paid for it, finally finished it, and definitely still did not enjoy it. I thought it would eventually get better because the story line is something I would like, but it’s not written in a way that grabs me. It’s also not very suspenseful. I found it quite boring. It did have a few moments, very few! This one is so overhyped! i literally had to make myself finish, and I could have stopped reading at any time because the ending was even boring. I will not be reading the others.
