Quiet Leadership: Winning Hearts, Minds and Matches Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 1,650 ratings

Carlo Ancelotti is one of the greatest managers of all time, with five Champions League titles to his name. Yet his approach could not be further from the aggressive theatricals favoured by many of his rivals. His understated style has earned him the fierce loyalty of players like David Beckham, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Cristiano Ronaldo.

In Quiet Leadership, Ancelotti reveals the full riveting story of his managerial career - his methods, mentors, mistakes and triumphs - and takes us inside the dressing room to trace the characters, challenges and decisions that have shaped him. The result is both a scintillating memoir and a rare insight into the business of leadership.

This book offers valuable insight into a specific leadership style as exhibited by Ancelotti. Some are direct leaders who use a command style when managing people. Others use a quieter, more collaborative and subtle approach that sometimes go against the grain of what the romantic notion of a leader is as formed by pop culture.

Ancelotti is not over-bearing or dictatorial. He compels his players to do the right thing and leads by setting an example as someone who is calm under pressure, slow to anger, and keeps in mind the well-being of the person when navigating the obstacles within the high-pressure and complex world of modern day football management.

This book offers the reader insight into how Ancelotti's leadership style was used throughout his career and provides guidance as to how his techniques can be used at all levels of management.

Between the carrot and the stick approach, Ancelotti's style uses the carrot. Is that he best way? That's up for you to decide, but you will undoubtedly come away with a respect for his style once you read his anecdotes. Best of all, the book contains sections where his former players and colleagues tell you exactly what they think of his style.

It's a must read for every sports coach and manager in any field.

This book reads like a conversation with Carlo Ancellotti. Carlo hasn’t a bad word to say for anyone and whilst it is not very deep or technical there is a lot of very good ideas and material here. I enjoyed it and recommend it if you want some general guidance on leadership.

Good book written by one of the greatest managers ever; however, it is very repetitive and unnecessarily long. The exact same content could have been delivered with 150 pages instead of 300

An excellent book; however, for the time spent researching, and the man involved IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN LONGER!
